We invite scholars (Ph.D. Students and Academics) from Africa or interested in African scholarship to this 2nd paper development workshop happening as a hybrid event in ECIS 2023. The workshop is targeted at developing IS scholarship on the continent. Specifically, the workshop is a platform for IS scholars in the continent and diaspora to come with their work and get feedback from highly established scholars and journal editors in the field. The focus of the feedback is primarily to give guidance and direction on developing the papers for publication in the top international IS journals and increase the impact and visibility of African scholarship in the IS discipline. The idea is to build a vibrant IS community that stimulates and encourages scholars on the continent to have a voice and contribute to the advancement of IS scholarship within Africa and internationally. Therefore we encourage IS scholars residing in Africa or the diaspora to submit their own papers or papers developed in collaboration with other scholars across the globe.
Target Audience and Expected Attendance
Scholars (preferably scholars residing in Africa but not limited to this group): Ph.D. students, Junior/Senior Lecturers, Assistant, Associate and Full Professors.

Workshop Schedule and Format
*Format: The workshop will feature roundtable discussions of submitted papers with assigned editors and mentors. Furthermore, we plan panel sessions to foster and encourage community building and the continuity of this initiative. The workshop is planned to be a hybrid event to facilitate the participation of those unable to make the trip to Norway. The workshop is planned for half a day.
*Submission Instructions: To participate in this workshop, interested participants are required to submit the work they intend to develop further into a journal article.
.  Submit an extended abstract of the paper for which feedback is sought to mailto:africanWIS at gmail.com and cc mailto:e.ayaburi at csuohio.edu
.  The extended abstract should be a maximum of 5-pages single-space (excluding references)
.  Include a cover page that indicates a) the Name, b) (African) Affiliation of the Author(s) and c) an indication of in-person or virtual participation.
*Submission deadline: April 7th, 2023
*Decision on abstracts: April 21st, 2023

Funding Opportunities: Discussions are ongoing to source funding to support participation in the workshop and ECIS for up to 10 African scholars who may have financial challenges.

Plan for Publications
The goal is to start a conversation with the editors on how the authors mentored during the workshop can develop their papers into articles that can be considered for publication in leading IS journals.
