Therefore the Center for Technology & Society (CTS) at TU Wien offers a position as a university assistant (Post-doc) for a maximum of 6 years for 40 hours/week—expected start: May 2023. 

CTS seeks to expand its competence in the interdisciplinary field of Computer Science and Society with the affiliated CTS Circle Computer Science (CTS//circle.computerScience). This position will deal with critical issues arising from the intersection of digital technologies and society, which includes novel ways of designing, developing, applying, critically assessing, and evaluating digital technologies, state-of-the-art systems, and approaches for all life settings. We are particularly interested in candidates working in areas that will complement our expertise and lead to collaborations with other CTS and TU Wien members. 

This position will utilize a keen understanding and broad knowledge of current topics, issues, and challenges in Computer Science and Society to develop, manage and execute a research agenda founded on some of the following methodologies:
* Strategic research agenda development
* Science and research management
* Inter- and transdisciplinary approaches in computer science
* Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI)
* Technology assessment
* Participatory and inclusive design and development
* Ethics-informed critical research and application by design

Tasks:
* Research activities in the fields given below
* Structuring and executing the CTS//circle.computerScience in a leading function
* Project work and leadership of project groups
* Willingness to contribute to interdisciplinary scientific projects, especially of the CTS
* Research and work with students, society, industry, and academia
* Participation and organization of scientific CTS events
* Publication activity and public relations for the area of the CTS//circle.computerScience
* Leading role in the CTS's outreach program to computer science as well as to society, industry, and academia
* Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation measures of the CTS and the research unit

The research activities of the candidate should cover some of the following topics:
* Science and technology studies
* Automation and digital transformation of society
* (Ethical) challenges in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)
* Sustainable and civic technology development
* Sociological aspects of computer science
* Base research on digital transformations
* Open science and participatory approaches

Your profile:
Essential
* Ph.D. or doctoral degree in Computer Science or Business Informatics or equivalent university degree foreign or domestic country
* A research and publication record
* Experience in university teaching, pedagogic and didactic skills
* Experienced in project management and presentations
* Interest and pleasure in research and work/support with students, society, industry, and academia
* Administrative and organizational skills
* Reliable, structured, independent, and interdisciplinary way of working, stress resistance and resilience
* Flexibility, interconnected thinking, accuracy, and a sense of responsibility
* Enthusiasm and ability to learn
* Ability to communicate and work in a team, willingness to cooperate, and empathy
* Fluent in German and English
* Gender sensitivity and social skills

Desirable
* Leadership skills
* Experience in raising research funds and managing scientific research projects
* Experiences in inter-disciplinary research

Entry-level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,351.90/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
