HICSS-57 Minitack: Analytics-Driven Digital Transformation in Organisations and Society
 (Formerly: Business Intelligence, Business Analytics and Big Data: Innovation, Deployment and Management – the longest running HICSS minitrack on Business Intelligence and Analytics)

57rd Hawaii International Conference on Systems Sciences

http://www.hicss.org/.

January 3-6, 2024

Hilton Hawaian Village, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawai’i

Today’s businesses, governments, not-for-profits and other types of organizations are undergoing rapid Digital Transformation (DT) across all industry sectors. Recent industry reports confirm that the speed of DT is accelerated post-pandemic as organizations are forced to adapt to a new normal at an unprecedented rate. Moreover, DT is no longer contained by organizational boundaries, with society at large also experiencing profound and rapid technological change, resulting in both beneficial and harmful effects.

While DT could be driven by different types of technology and could be studied from different perspectives, this minitrack focuses on analytics-driven DT. This particular focus recognizes DT as the new frontier for analytics research in organizations and society, which builds upon the existing analytics methods and approaches but also requires the new ones.

Drawing from the rich history of analytics and related research in this minitrack, we aim to pave the way for a future-oriented conversation about the role of analytics in digital transformation, how data and analytics are used to drive DT, what are the outcomes and ethical consequences of analytics-driven DT (both intended and unintended), what kind of analytical skills and methods are needed for DT and how is analytics itself transformed along the way.

This minitrack will accept papers focused analytics-driven DT in organizations and society, rather than DT in general, with the expected emphasis placed on analytics and its organizational and societal perspectives. Contributions from the fields of theory building, design research (methods and models), action research as well as analyses of existing or innovative applications are welcome. We invite papers that investigate topics which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  * Methods and mechanisms of analytics-driven DT in organisations and society
  * Organizational outcomes of analytics-driven DT (organizational resilience, agility, new business models)
  * Societal issues created by analytics-driven DT
  * DT through data ecosystems, data coops, data marketplaces and open data environments
  *   Skills and capabilities needed
  * Challenges and barriers of analytics-driven DT
  * Ethical and moral issues involved in analytics-driven DT
  *   Data and analytics governance
  * Organizational and societal leadership for analytics-driven DT
  * Analytics-driven DT and social justice
  * Data literacy and skill development
  * Ethical challenges and unintended consequences of analytics-driven DT
