Are you interested in integrating AWS training into your curriculum? If so, here is a free training opportunity for you.

For the past few years at Louisiana State University, we have been offering our students an opportunity to be trained in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and to become certified as a Cloud Practitioner and a Solutions Architect. Thanks to the support of the university, I have been provided the opportunity to create a course to enable other instructors across the globe to become certified to teach AWS in their courses as well.

I am reaching out to you to extend to you an invitation to see if you would be interested in this resource (for free). If you become certified, then you will have the chance to teach the material to their own students and for your students to become certified in AWS as well.

I am extending this opportunity because I have seen my students have an increased visibility within the job market and have seen my students interview at and subsequently connect with some amazing opportunities and I would like to see universities across the globe produce a cloud-first workforce that will enable us to be leaders in this area! But I cannot do this alone, and I need my colleagues at other universities and community colleges to help us work together to accomplish this goal.

Below I have included some information about the program. Feel free to forward this information to any other individuals that you feel would be interested in this opportunity.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to further conversations around the cloud!

Train the Trainer, Summer 2023

Objectives

As a result of attending a Train-the-Trainer course, participants will be able to:

1. Show mastery in the AWS Cloud Practitioner curriculum and successfully pass the certification exam.

2. Understand how to integrate the Cloud Practitioner curriculum into current courses.

3. Initiate a plan of action for their campus to assimilate the cloud across campus.

4. Define potential opportunities to leverage AWS into their research and/or grant-making capabilities.

5. Network with other AWS-certified instructors.

Components

The program will consist of two components:

1. Online asynchronous sessions delivered through Moodle: Through asynchronous webinar session, the participants will progress through a series of readiness, assessment, research, training, and integration sessions around AWS.

2. Online synchronous sessions: Through 3 synchronous webinar sessions, the participants will discuss how to integrate AWS into the curriculum.

Online Asynchronous Sessions

The asynchronous content has been developed in partnership with an instructional designer at LSU Online and is available through Moodle.

Online Synchronous Sessions

In the 60-minute webinar sessions, the format will be interactive, with a trainer delivering a conversation about three topics:

* Main Session 1: Assessing Institutional Readiness (June 12 @ 3 PM, CST): The LSU Story. In the first session, we will discuss the enablers and inhibitors of preparing your organization for AWS deployment. LSU will be used as a case study to highlight the journey of institutions as they progressed through AWS integration.

* Main Session 2: Assessing Course Readiness: Placing AWS into the Course (June 19 @ 3 PM, CST). After an institution commits to AWS, instructors need to understand the mechanics and operations of how to implement AWS in their courses. This session will discuss best practices for instructors.

* Main Session 3: Leveraging research and grant-making capabilities with AWS (June 26 @ 3 PM, CST). Beyond the classroom, AWS offers the opportunity for researchers to create a research agenda around cloud computing. This session will discuss research projects, collaborations, and grant opportunities, as well as integration opportunities for other certifications and courses.

Any faculty or doctoral students may register for this training. To register for this opportunity, simply visit https://lsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_783EVtfhs3ygwNE to indicate your interest. Reach out with questions!
