Dear Colleagues,

Call for papers/reports:

The Pacific-Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS) is the main
international Information Systems (IS) conference and the only AIS
sponsored conference in the Pacific Asia Region. 2023 PACIS will be held
at Nanchang, China after the successful series of PACIS since 1993. The
theme of PACIS 2023 is "Navigating Digital Turbulence and Seizing New
Possibilities".

Information privacy is considered one of the biggest issues in
cyberspace because of the ever-increasing collection and use of personal
information by companies. Largely driven by the Artificial Intelligence
technologies, big data, cloud computing, 5G, mobile Internet and so on,
companies have more direct access to consumers' private data (e.g.,
real-time location, biometrics) than ever before, thus opening the door
to privacy invasion. Data breaches raise privacy concerns that prevent
consumers from disclosing their personal information, especially private
information, thus preventing companies from obtaining and leveraging
consumer data. Data collection must be balanced with protecting private
information and consumer privacy; otherwise, companies' credibility and
ability to collect data from consumers would be jeopardized.

Thus, in order to seize the possibilities to promote privacy protection
in the digital era, the objective of the workshop is to provide an
opportunity for information systems researchers and scholars interested
in personal information privacy issues to come together and build a
dynamic community for open and constructive discussions, exchange of
ideas, and promote research collaborations. The Workshop will be
organized by invited speakers for the theme, submitted papers on open
topics, and interactive discussions.

Workshop organizers plan to openly recruit scholars with relevant
experience to report in the workshop, which calls for work related to
ideas, methods, design, technologies, user behaviors about balance
between privacy protection and data collection/usage, refers to all
digital domains, such as mobile commerce, healthcare and social media,
and so on. In particular, this workshop will focus on the follows: (1)
data privacy and protection in apps; (2)Trade-offs between
personalization and privacy; (2) Adoption, use and continuance of
information privacy and security technologies; (3) Design and
development of information security and privacy-enhancing technologies;
(4) Cognitive biases and heuristics in privacy decision making; (5)
Privacy issues in human-computer interaction.
