CALL FOR PAPERS - SPECIAL ISSUE on Cybersecurity in Healthcare
https://aris-journal.com/aris/index.php/journal/announcement/view/7
Dear Colleague,
In recent years, there has been a notable surge in cyberattacks
targeting healthcare settings, including hospitals. Several hospitals
have been rendered inoperable as a result of cyber-attacks, lasting for
weeks or even months, causing various consequences such as violations of
GDPR regulations and even loss of human lives. This highlights the
growing dependence of healthcare settings on digital infrastructures,
leading to a substantial expansion of their vulnerability to
cyber-attacks. The unique characteristics of healthcare facilities
provide significant challenges in terms of cybersecurity. Initially,
these organizations are extensively dispersed, resulting in a high level
of accessibility, with remote offices strategically established to
enhance the effectiveness of care delivery, including home care
services. Furthermore, implementing segmentation and access control is
challenging due to the criticality of efficient communication and the
additional expense imposed by these traditional cybersecurity methods.
Furthermore, individuals who utilize the medical infrastructure, such as
physicians, nurses, and patients, are contemplating the adoption of
digital infrastructures for their practical needs. However, as they lack
expertise in digital technologies, they are susceptible to being
targeted by bad individuals. Furthermore, medical equipment and
platforms are subjected to several regulations, hence rendering
compliance a complex endeavour.
This special issue aims to present a comprehensive overview of the
current advancements in the field of cybersecurity specifically in
healthcare settings.
The subjects of focus for this particular edition encompass (although
are not restricted to):
- Cybersecurity risks in hospital settings
- Securing medical devices and settings against cyber threats
- Protection and access to medical data
- Securing medical applications
- Identification of potential risks, prompt reaction to security
breaches, reduction of harm, and resolution of issues in healthcare
settings.
- Evaluation of security in healthcare settings
- Key data protection measures in healthcare include adherence to GDPR
and HIPAA regulations, implementation of encryption techniques, and
establishment of robust access controls.
- The significance of artificial intelligence and machine learning in
ensuring cybersecurity in the healthcare sector.
- Legal and ethical aspects of healthcare cybersecurity including
patient privacy, consent, and data governance.
- Relevant cybersecurity measures for healthcare settings.
