Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid Research Assistant position at the Department of Electronics, Information, and Bio-Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in Milan, with some flexibility for remote work.
As a Research Assistant in Computer Science, you will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and using programming skills to assist with ongoing research projects. You will collaborate with other researchers and contribute to publications and presentations.
You will be involved in the research project FREEDA (Failure-resilient, energy-aware, and explainable deployment of microservice-based applications over Cloud-IoT infrastructures) funded by the MUR, involving topics related to Information Systems, Distributed Systems, and Machine Learning.
The project's outcome will advance the state-of-the-art management of applications in fog computing with environmental sustainability in mind. If successful, the project will substantially impact the environmental footprint of cloud-native applications.

Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics, Automation, Telecommunication, or a related field
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or Java
- Basic knowledge of cloud computing and service-oriented architectures is preferred

Contract Type and Salary
This is a full-time, non-permanent contract with a duration of 15 months. The salary will be approximately 1500 EUR net monthly. Flexible/remote working hours are allowed. The candidate will be working under the supervision of Dr. Monica Vitali (Politecnico di Milano).
The position could be associated with a PhD in Information Technology at Politecnico di Milano (subject to selection procedure).

Starting Date
The position was officially advertised in February 2024 and start in April 2024.
