Purpose sounds simple, but the journey to it is daunting, even for
seasoned executives. Achieving organizational purpose requires fostering
sustained commitment from individuals uniting around common challenges.
For an upcoming Amplify issue, Guest Edited by Profs Oana Branzei

and Dusya Vera

of Ivey Business School, we seek articles that identify strategies for
achieving purpose-driven leadership and illustrate the transformative
potential of scaffolding purpose.

Possible article ideas include (but are not limited to) the following:
What is purpose good for; who should invest in it; when and how?
What are the differences and links between every day and extreme
purpose?
What returns can be expected when leaders invest in purpose?
How do leaders connect purpose and profit? Purpose and grand challenges?
How can elevating purpose transform business models, ecosystems,
economies?
How does purpose influence future challenges and guide our decisions &
actions?
Does purpose impact the shift from surviving to thriving in an
inequitable world?
What are the connections between purpose at different levels
(individual, team, organization, industry, sector, partnership etc.) and
ESG priorities?
Can purpose-driven leadership, strategies, or economies lead to a false
sense of understanding and support for each other's purpose?
How can purpose-driven frameworks help us find opportunities in crises?
Paths out of misery and suffering? Paths towards solidarity and
flourishing?
Purpose washing: when do purpose declarations become performative?
Can a rush towards purpose lead to virtue signaling or grandstanding?
We're also interested in exploring purpose's application to critical
issues such as climate change (COP-28), biodiversity (COP-15),
regeneration (Davos 2024), decarbonization, and Agenda 2030. Authors are
encouraged to make specific links to the Sustainable Development Goals,
Inner Development Goals, and ESG priorities where relevant.
