Friends:
With AMCIS 2024<https://amcis2024.aisconferences.org/> about three weeks away, we wanted to remind you of an exciting new way for all AIS members to engage with AMCIS research: AMCIS AuthorConnect<https://authorconnect.aisnet.org/>! AuthorConnect is a platform that broadens AMCIS inclusivity by facilitating virtual meetups between paper authors and any AIS members interested in discussing their research. Here's how it works:
1. Invite. From the AMCIS 2024 proceedings<https://aisel.aisnet.org/amcis2024/> on the AIS eLibrary, an AIS member can click the 'AuthorConnect' button for any paper. The member can use the AuthorConnect system to send a message to paper authors indicating interest in a virtual meeting session.
2. Create. Either before or after receiving a message indicating interest, AMCIS authors can create one or more AuthorConnect sessions for their papers. Authors choose the time of the session and the meeting software (e.g., Zoom) used. They then post the meeting information on AuthorConnect.
3. Register. AIS members can register for any AuthorConnect session<https://authorconnect.aisnet.org/conferences/AMCIS2024/sessions> created by AMCIS paper authors. (There is no cost to register for a session, and you don't have to be registered for AMCIS to participate.) Registered members can then access the meeting link to participate in the session at the time designated by the authors.
That's all there is to it! Importantly, AuthorConnect sessions do not substitute for or replace in-person paper sessions at the conference; instead, they provide a supplemental way for a wider audience of AIS members to engage with AMCIS authors.
We are excited about the potential of AuthorConnect to further increase the accessibility and impact of AMCIS research, and hope you are equally excited to participate! As a bonus, AIS is encouraging use of the system by donating to the AMCIS scholarship fund ($25 per session for the first 300 AuthorConnect sessions created that have at least one registered attendee)! So your participation will have double the impact on promoting the accessibility of AMCIS research to all AIS members worldwide!
To get started with AuthorConnect, either as an AMCIS paper author or an AIS member, please visit the AuthorConnect overview<https://authorconnect.aisnet.org/> or FAQ<https://authorconnect.aisnet.org/faq> pages.
