Job Summary: The Department of Computing Sciences at SUNY Brockport, State University of New York, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Instructor position to begin Spring 2025. We seek a faculty member who is interested in transitioning from the cybersecurity industry to teaching. This role involves teaching courses in one or more, but not limited to the following areas of Cybersecurity: Computer/Network Security, Information Assurance, Ethical hacking, Incident response, Database and Web security, Cryptography, Software and System security. The faculty member will also be responsible for providing academic advising to all students majoring in Cybersecurity. We particularly welcome applications from individuals belonging to historically underrepresented in the academy and/or who have experience working in diverse populations.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Master's degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or in a closely related discipline, by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
* Minimum of three years of cybersecurity industry experience and/or experience in teaching cybersecurity courses at the community college or university level.
* Proficiency in using and/or teaching various cybersecurity tools and software commonly used in the industry.
* Ability and/or evidence of pursuing scholarship activities and/or continued professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:

Interest and ability to teach classes in one or more, but not limited to the following areas of Cybersecurity: Computer/Network Security, Information Assurance, Ethical hacking, Incident response, Database and Web security, Cryptography, Software and System security.

Minimum of five years of industry and/or community college/university teaching experience related to various cybersecurity topics.
*
Experience with curriculum improvement/development, including proficiency in developing cybersecurity courses designed to prepare students for careers in the industry.
*
Desire and ability to adeptly use and incorporate emerging trends and technologies in cybersecurity into their pedagogy.
*
Possession of relevant cybersecurity certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or CompTIA Security+.
*
Ability to create inclusive and engaging learning environment for a diverse student population.
*
Ability to effectively engage faculty, staff, and students in a collegial and collaborative manner.
*
Willingness to mentor and guide students in cybersecurity (i.e., related projects, competitions, clubs).
*
Is connected to a strong professional network within the cybersecurity industry, which could facilitate partnerships, internships, or job placement opportunities for students.
