Dear IS community,

By the end of 2022, both man-made and natural disasters had forcibly displaced 108.4 million people, including 43.3 million children under 18. The number of school-aged refugees grew from 10 million to 14.8 million, with 51% out of school.

In stable conditions, education, wellbeing, and food security reinforce each other. Forced displacement breaks this positive cycle, turning it into a negative loop. Help from the Information Systems (IS) community is urgently needed, addressing the full range of needs of displaced youth.

My research student Maya Gautier and I are seeking experts to participate in our study "EduCare: Designing an Integrated Mobile Learning, Mental Wellbeing, and Food Security App for Forcibly Displaced Youth." If you have experience in any of the related focus areas - education, wellbeing, food security, and IS design, particularly for vulnerable populations - we would be grateful for your expert participation. We kindly ask you to complete a brief survey available on Qualtrics: https://sydney.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5hkX0tLSyV8dpmS

The survey should take about 10mins to complete. It is designed to evaluate six key design principles of 'EduCare,' detailed in the attached document and within the questionnaire. Your responses will play a key role in shaping the research outcomes. Project progression is also key to Maya's envisioned PhD studies.

At the end of the survey, you may opt for a follow-up interview to further discuss your insights. Please be assured that all responses will be treated with strict confidentiality and used solely for research purposes. The survey link is non-identifiable and non-traceable.

Attached are an overview of the project and a paper presented at the 2023 Australasian Conference on Information Systems, which the project builds upon. You can also access the app prototype, designed in Figma, via the following link: https://tinyurl.com/EduCare2024
(no login required. Just click on ‘Verify’ to begin the experience)

Data collection is planned to run until September 15th, and Maya can accommodate your schedule. If you’re unable to participate, we would appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with others who might be interested.

Thank you for considering this request. We look forward to the possibility of your involvement.

Best regards,

Raffaele and Maya
