We are delighted to extend an invitation to you to contribute chapters to our upcoming book, titled "Research Handbook on Information Systems and Project Management" (Edward Elgar Publishing).

Aims and scope:
We cannot have successful organizations without information technologies and information systems! Without project management, we cannot develop impacting information technologies and information systems with efficiency and efficacy!
This handbook aims to explore the intersection of Information Systems and Project Management by providing a comprehensive and multidisciplinary study of the fundamental technical, social, and contextual dimensions.
The Research Handbook on Information Systems and Project Management will cover a wide range of topics. The topics include, but are not limited to: information systems governance; information systems planning; information systems development; information systems implementation; information systems operations; information technology outsourcing; enterprise architecture; information systems function; chief information officer role; information technology leadership role; chief information officer skills; information systems management tools; management of complex projects; audits; managing organization - structure; managing organization - responsabilities; digital transformation; benefits management; project evaluation; success criteria; success factors; project management life-cycle; project initiation; project planning; project execution; project control and monitoring; project closing; project manager role; project manager skills; portfolio management; program management; tools and techniques; project management knowledge areas; scope management; time management; cost management; quality management; procurement management; risk management; communication management; human resources management; success management; team performance; social aspects; ethics; contextual aspects; conflict management; project management office.
As information systems and project management continue to evolve as crucial bodies of knowledge, offering organizations the tools and methods to be efficient, effective, and competitive in a shifting, complex, and unpredictable environment, there is a pressing need for cohesive resources that bring together existing knowledge, identify key research gaps, and guide further directions. By compiling contributions from the vibrant community of researchers in these fields, this handbook seeks to fill this demand by providing valuable insights for research and practice.

Submission details:
Authors are invited to submit their chapter proposals for initial evaluation and suitability for inclusion in the handbook. The proposals should include:
- A tentative chapter title;
- The authors' names, affiliations, and institutional emails;
- Four to six keywords;
- An extended abstract (one or two pages max.).
The book editors and a board of experts will review all chapters before accepting them for publication.
There are no submission or processing fees for the accepted chapters.

Chapter proposals should be sent by email to varajao at dsi.uminho.pt and nilton at ic.ufmt.br

Chapter development:
Chapters should be about 9,000 - 10,000 words long (allowing 500 words for each figure or illustration). All chapters must be original and not concurrently under review or published by other books, journals, or conferences.

Important dates:
* Chapter proposal submission: October 4, 2024
* Chapter proposal review: October 18, 2024
* Chapter submission: January 31, 2025
* Chapter peer review feedback: March 31, 2025
* Chapter revision: May 16, 2025
* Book delivery to the publisher: July 31, 2025
