*Summary Information:*
The Area of Information Systems and Quantitative Sciences in the Rawls
College of Business at Texas Tech University invites applications for a
full-time, 9-month Professor of Practice in Data Science and Information
Systems position starting September 2025. The position may be filled at the
Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice levels.
At Texas Tech University, the title of Professor of Practice is designated
for individuals with exceptional backgrounds and achievements in academia,
business, government, or other professional fields. Primary
responsibilities typically include teaching in an area of expertise,
mentoring students in professional and career preparation, and liaising
with professional contacts and entities on behalf of the department or
program.
*Required Qualifications:*
In alignment with Texas Tech University’s strategic priorities to engage
and empower a diverse student body, foster innovative research and creative
activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and
engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse
student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels across
various areas of teaching, research, creative activity, and service.
*Specific required qualifications include:*
1. Candidates should possess a master’s degree or higher in Information
Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a closely related
discipline.
2. Candidates should have knowledge and experience in using *Generative
AI and large language models*, either academically or in industry, and
be willing to develop and teach courses on Generative AI in business and
information systems for both undergraduate and graduate students.
3. Successful candidates should demonstrate outstanding communication
skills and the ability to translate complex technical content into formats
that resonate within a business context.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
In addition to the required qualifications, candidates with the following
qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given
preference:
1. Industrial experience in developing and/or managing Generative AI
applications.
2. Experience or interest in teaching courses related to web design,
application development, enterprise architecture, and system integration.
Candidates should have a track record of accomplishments in teaching,
research, or professional engagement that aligns with the strategic
initiatives of the Area, College, and University, commensurate with the
rank applied for.

The Area of Information Systems and Quantitative Sciences (ISQS) in the
Rawls College of Business has been at the forefront of research in

UTD24 list (MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research). We offer an
