Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Digital Transformation

We are inviting applications for the postdoctoral position in Unit of Information and Knowledge Management. The Unit employs six professors and over 30 professionals working on research and teaching in the field.  We study and develop tools, processes, techniques, and practices for gathering, analyzing, refining and using knowledge throughout an organization, and to more broadly, throughout the society in order to improve different operations.  We are committed to research that delivers practical benefits, and to generating new knowledge, solutions and expertise that support informed decision-making across society. With the digital transformation reshaping our society, information and knowledge management serves as a bridge between different disciplines to address the grand challenges facing our society.

Job description



We are seeking a highly motivated academic to conduct high-quality scientific research, to contribute to societal impact and to international collaboration, to give research-based teaching, to contribute student supervision and different research projects and to the overall development of the discipline. In particular, the duties include teaching three courses per year - each course running about two months - and supervising bachelor and master students on a broad range of topics touching digital transformation and information systems discipline. The courses are about digital transformation and its management, IT-business alignment, and introduction to research methods.

Requirements



  *   an applicable doctoral degree
  *   a track record of independent scholarly activity on digital transformation, IS management, IT-business alignment, or related topics.
  *   teaching skills required to successfully perform the duties and functions of the position
  *   a track record of international scholarly activity

We appreciate a track record of research with an international impact, previous experience in teaching and student supervision on the topics mentioned above, and a strong commitment to high quality teaching. Teaching language could be either Finnish or English, working language is English.

The selection process will involve interviews and a demonstration of teaching skills.

We offer



The appointment as Postdoctoral Research Fellow is made for two years, for example through 1.10.2021-30.9.2023. Starting day is however negotiable. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees.

Salaries are based on the job demands and employees' personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System.
