Postdoctoral Researcher fixed term position, 1.8.2022-31.7.2025

The post is positioned in Information Systems Science at the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship.

Research in Information Systems Science builds upon a long tradition of information technology management research, with a particular emphasis on ensuring value for users and user organizations. Our current research analyses phenomena related to digital and data-enabled services, using three main theoretical perspectives: 1) transition towards new processes and business models 2) responsible governance and development of services and 3) implications for service users. With a faculty of approximately 25 researchers and teachers, we are one of the largest information systems units in Finland. Approximately 50 students majoring in IS graduate each year from our Finnish and international programs.

Duties

The main task of postdoctoral researcher is to carry out independent scientific research aiming at publications in high quality scientific journals. Scientific research comprises also planning and implementing scientific research projects and work as a responsible researcher in a research group. The purpose of the postdoctoral researcher position is to promote the qualifications of recent doctoral students in the researcher career.

The position also includes teaching in bachelors' and masters' level and duties related to research funding applications and university administration. The exact duties will be determined based on the competence and expertise of the selected candidate.

Requirements

A person selected for the post of postdoctoral researcher is required to have a doctoral degree and the ability to do independent scientific work as well as having the necessary teaching skills. The qualification requirements of the position are described in the rules of procedure of the University of Turku.

In this position, high quality research in some of the subject's three main theoretical perspectives, and prior achievements indicating potential to publish also in high-quality publications are considered as an advantage. Postdoctoral Researcher will assist in the supervision of MSc and PhD theses in English. Ability to provide teaching in Finnish is an advantage, but not a requirement (language of instruction in basic and subject level courses is Finnish). Good track record in conducting international high quality research and ability to raise research funding are considered as an asset.

Postgraduate students of the University of Turku who are very close to completing their dissertations can also apply for the position. In this case, the job title is Doctoral Candidate.

Salary

The salary for the post is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The salary for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the beginning of employment is about 3300 - 3800 EUR per month. The salary for a Doctoral Student in the beginning of employment is about 2800 EUR per month.

The position is subject to a six (6) months trial period.
