The IRIS seminar dates to 1978 and is a well-established community where you can build and sustain your Scandinavian IS network. While most participants are from the Nordic countries, we welcome researchers from all parts of the world to the conference, bringing along and delivering other than the Nordic perspectives on IS into the discussion.

The Information Systems Research in Scandinavia (IRIS) seminar is organised in small working groups where each paper is allocated one hour of fruitful and deep discussion time with senior and junior scholars. The objective of the working group sessions is to provide feedback to the authors so that they can develop their papers further. Many papers have gone through IRIS prior to being published in the leading journals or conferences within our Information Systems field. Because IRIS papers are not published, the authors can submit their IRIS paper elsewhere after the conference.

Please note that each year, one selected excellent paper per working group is invited as an IRIS selected paper and those papers are published in the AIS eLibrary. The authors can opt out of this publication option if they plan to submit the paper elsewhere but the IRIS selected papers is considered a good place to publish PhD research.

IRIS 2025 is held in conjunction with the 16th SCIS on 10-13 August 2025 on the beautiful island of Oscarsborg, outside Oslo, Norway.
The two conferences are seen as a full package meaning that participants register and participate in both events.
