TRACK: INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN TRANSITION ECONOMIES

Gabor and I would like to invite you to submit your work to the 'IS in
Transition Countries' track of the 19th European Conference on
Information Systems. This track will provide an opportunity to showcase
all aspects of information systems research on Eastern and Central
European transition economies. The conference theme of 'ICT and
sustainable service development' is prophetic at a time of tumultuous
change in the European transition economies where the rapid diffusion
and use of information and communications technologies during the 1990s
and beyond have not always gone hand in hand with economic growth and
stability. We invite papers on all aspects of information systems
research related to European transition countries. We particularly
welcome papers that deal with topics where the national, regional and/or
local context takes on some significance for the study being reported.
While comparative studies on any related topic across some of these
countries would be of special interest, we also seek papers reporting
single country studies from the region. The track invites both full
research papers and research in progress submissions. Themes and topics
of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

Information technology diffusion and infrastructure
Information systems adoption and use
Information technology and media
Information systems in small and medium sized enterprises
Electronic government policy and practice
Electronic commerce
EU policy and legal frameworks
Regulation and compliance issues
Governance and standards
Evaluation of information systems
Socio-economic impacts of information technology
Issues relating to digital divide
Information society issues
Ethical aspects of information systems
Sourcing strategies for information technology
Telecommunications and the Internet
Cross cultural issues
