In recent years, there have been numerous publications showing that women are not attracted to and do not remain in the computing fields. This has serious negative consequences for research and commerce: half of the talent is never used!

The National Center for Women in Information Technology (NCWIT) was established in 2004 to combat this crisis of talent. It is a capacity-building organization, which means that it is meant to help other organizations get more out of the work they are already doing. It is a coalition of over 200 academic institutions, prominent corporations, government agencies, and non-profits working to increase women's participation in information technology.

Membership is free and comes with many advantages.

If you are interested in having your department or school join, if you want to get more information about NCWIT, or if you want to meet up with representatives of departments who are already members, then stop by on Tuesday evening:

NCWIT Networking and Information Session

Location: Sterling Studio 3 (Second Floor)
