Senior Research Fellow Start-up Package


Senior Research Fellow position in the area of Information Systems  
Security is open in the Department of Information Processing Science.  
The duration of the position is up to five years.

The Department was established at the University of Oulu in 1969. The  
main research focus of the department is Information Systems and  
Empirical Software Engineering. The IS faculty members of the  
department have published research in leading IS journals, such as MIS  
Quarterly, ISR, JMIS, JAIS, European Journal of IS, ISJ, and I&O. IS  
scholars of the department are ranked highly in terms of research  
productivity among European universities (e.g., Lin & Gregor 2009;  
PAJAIS). The department has strong and active research connections to  
IT industry. Hence, the candidate has excellent opportunities to carry  
out empirical research in close connection with industry.

A Senior Research Fellow is expected to perform high-quality research  
on Information Systems Security, supervise Ph.D. and master's theses,  
and teach 1 to 3 courses on IS per year. The teaching load depends on  
the research merits of the applicants. In considering applicants for  
the position, emphasis will be placed on research merit in terms of  
journal publications on leading Information Systems journals during  
recent years, as well as future potential to publish research in  
premier Information Systems journals.

The selected candidate has a possibility of hiring up to two full time  
Ph.D. students. The candidate can participate to the selection of the  
Ph.D. students. Requirements for a Senior Research Fellow include a  
Ph.D., preferably in IS, and successful postdoctoral performance  
measured in terms of publications in high-quality Information Systems  
journals. Further, the research performed by the candidate must fit  
the research areas of the IS security research centre (http://issrc.oulu.fi/research-and-publications/ 
).

The annual salary of the Senior Research Fellow ("yliopistotutkija" in  
Finnish) is up to 80 000 euro, based on the qualifications of the  
candidate. The salary is paid for 12 months in a year. Additionally,  
the Senior Research Fellow is entitled to health care benefits.
