CALL FOR PAPERS

16th EURAS Annual Standardization Conference
- Standards for Development -

8 - 10 June 2011
Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas, Lithuania

The critical role of standards and standardization for economic and
societal development has been recognized at least since
industrialization. As codified knowledge, standards acquire an even
greater role in the development of the global knowledge economy. While
the developed countries have long been leading players on the
international standardization arena, developing and many transition
countries remain largely passive and reap far less benefits than they could.

The 16th EURAS conference is soliciting original and innovative
submissions focusing on the significance of standards and
standardization for development. We are inviting theoretical and
empirical papers that will contribute to greater awareness of how and
where standards can create potential for progress in developing and
transition countries. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* Standards for regional development
* Standardization infrastructure development in transition countries
* Standards, globalization and national authenticity
* Conformity assessment for development
* The relation between standards and the development of science /
  technology / society / economy
* Developing countries and standardization
* Standardization, globalisation and innovation
* Participatory issues in standardization
* Education on / in standardization and development
* Standards and technology transfer
* History and future of standards
* Legal and regulatory issues in standardization
* Corporate standards and strategies
* Markets and dominant technologies
* Research and standardization
* Economics of standardization
* Standardization policies
* management of standards
* Standards setting and implementation processes_
