The School of Information Systems, Faculty of Business at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) has recently been awarded funding by the Australian Research Council (ARC) under its Linkage Projects scheme to undertake a collaborative research project with the industry in the area of IT Service Management (ITSM). Specifically, the project aims to:

- develop an international standards-based software-mediated process assessment tool to facilitate continual service improvement in ITSM

- evaluate the effectiveness of the tool by implementing it in two large organizations and validating results against traditional process assessment methods.

As a requirement of ARC's funding, the Faculty of Business is offering a scholarship for a suitable PhD student to assist the project team, which comprises academics who are internationally recognized experts in ITSM and process assessment, in their research. Those with experience or background in IT service management or process assessment are highly encouraged to apply for this opportunity.

The scholarship will provide support for three years full-time study for a candidate working towards a PhD degree. The value of this scholarship is approximately AUD41,000 per annum tax free. The candidate will initially be based at USQ's Toowoomba campus and required to periodically travel to Brisbane to interact with the industry partners involved in the research.
