Call for Bids - AMCIS 2015 and 2016

TO: IS Community

FROM: Ramesh Sharda, Chair, AMCIS Site Advisory Committee

The Site Advisory Committee (SAC) of the AMCIS Executive Committee is soliciting preliminary bids for AMCIS 2015 and AMCIS 2016. Conference organizers can bid for either year or both. Bid procedures can be found at http://home.aisnet.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=76

The AMCIS Executive Committee has established the following rotation schedule as a guideline for future conferences. However, other locations will be considered. Also listed are locations already selected for the next several years:

2012 - North America Western Region (Seattle)

2013 - North America Central Region (Chicago)

2014 - North America Eastern Region (Savannah)

2015 -Any region in the Americas (Original preference was for Latin/South America, but no acceptable bid was received by AMCIS EC, which now opens it wider according to the bid procedures )

2016 - North America Western Region

2017 - North America Central Region

While this schedule acts as a guideline, bids may be submitted for any conference location in the Americas (North, Central, or South). Note that the bid organizers do not have to reside in the proposed conference location.

Prospective conference bidders are requested to complete the AIS Notice of Intent to Bid (NIB) form <https://m360.aisnet.org/admin/forms/ViewForm.aspx?id=13473> and submit it no later than March 1, 2012. Prospective bidders are asked to NOT contact prospective hotels, convention & visitor bureaus, or other such entities until further direction has been provided by the AIS staff. Upon receipt of the NIB, the AIS office will contact the prospective bidders to discuss preliminary steps, offer guidance, and answer any questions related to preparing the bid.

As a past AMCIS co-chair I can attest that hosting a major conference of AIS can be a rich and rewarding experience. If you have any questions about bidding and potentially hosting such an event I would welcome your inquiry at ramesh.sharda at okstate dot edu. Rob Nickerson, AIS VP of Meetings & Conferences will also be willing to answer questions from prospective bidders. He can be reached at rnick at sfsu dot edu.
