7th Mediterranean Conference on Information Systems (MCIS) 2012
Adopting Emergent Knowledge & Technologies to Develop Innovative
Information Systems (CloudWisdom)

Guimar?es, Portugal - September 8-10, 2012
Track Title: Crowdsourcing for Innovation, Productivity, and Creativity

Track Chairs:
Isabel Ramos, University of Minho
Lee Erickson, The Pennsylvania State University
Paul M. Di Gangi, Loyola University Maryland
Carl Adams, University of Portsmouth

In today?s fast-paced globally competitive marketplace, organizations are
looking for new ways to reduce costs, increase productivity, and bring
innovative products to market. To accomplish such tasks, organizations are
beginning to leverage the ?crowd? both internally and externally as a
source of knowledge, creativity, and expertise. Whether ggregating the
collective ?wisdom of the crowd? or looking for individual input for
problem solving or ideation, many organizations are experimenting with the
crowd to complement or even replace existing innovation resources and
processes. ?Crowdsourcing? is the act of leveraging a large group of
people to perform tasks commonly performed by designated employees or
agents. Information Systems (IS) and Web technologies are key to
organizations? ability to reach out to, interact with, and manage the input
of the crowd. Today for-profit corporations, non-profit organizations, and
governmental agencies are leveraging IS to connect with the crowd for a
variety of different purposes. Additionally, completely new business models
are emerging that rely on sustained engagement from a vast, unknown
user population. Similar to other open innovation models, ?crowdsourcing?
presents
several challenges that organizations must overcome in order to achieve
success (e..g, absorptive capacity issues, legal implications, knowledge
spillover, competitor access, etc.).

The objective of the ?Crowdsourcing for Innovation, Productivity, and
Creativity? track is to promote the exchange of knowledge on the roles of
IS and technology to facilitate organizational crowdsourcing initiatives.
Papers examining the role of IS platforms, social media tools, and IT
infrastructures that enable crowdsourcing, organizational uses of the crowd
(non-profits, for-profits, associations, governmental, etc.), economic
benefits, policy issues, theoretical frameworks and taxonomies are welcome.
Theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented contributions from a variety of
perspectives are encouraged.

Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Platforms, tools, and technologies
- Design of analytical tools for managing crowd-based initiatives
- Organizing taxonomies, frameworks, and classifications
- IS and business strategy alignment
- Theoretical exploration of the role of collective intelligence,
distributed knowledge, and diversity in crowdsourcing - Crowdsourcing for
innovation, problem solving, productivity, and creativity
- Practical approaches to fostering creativity at individual, group
and organizational levels
- Social, managerial, and legal implications of crowdsourcing
- Marketing and brand awareness
- Characteristics and motivations of the crowd
- Collecting, filtering, and evaluating of crowd input for knowledge
and business intelligence purposes
- The use of incentives and rewards to motivate participation
- Integration into and impact on institutionalized processes
- Information quality frameworks
- Value creation
- New forms of organizing
- Building crowd-based or crowd-supported organizations
- Organizational learning and the use of social media for
crowdsourcing initiatives
- Knowledge management systems for managing crowdsourcing
- Crowdsourcing, collaboration, problem solving with social media
- Governance and policy issues
- Application and extension of IS theory
- Organizational and cultural influences (e.g., leadership,
organizational culture, technology infrastructure, regulation, and
economics)
- Comparisons to open innovation, open source software, and outsourcing
- Emergence of new business models
- Methodological techniques for understanding network structures
of crowdsourcing initiatives

Conference Submissions
The conference invites papers and poster submissions on a broad range of IS
themes relevant to crowdsourcing.

Types of contributions, in English, via the EasyChair Submission System (

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce publication of Volume 22, Issue 1 of the

Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce<http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/title~db=all~content=t775653688>

Abstracted/indexed in: ISI Science Citation Index; ISI Science Citation Index Expanded; Journal Citation Reports: Science - Computing & Technology; Scopus; INSPEC; Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Management; EBSCOhost Products; CompuMath Citation Index; Computer Abstracts; PsycINFO/Psychological Abstracts; Ergonomics Abstracts.

This issue is comprised of the following articles:

"A Theoretical Framework for Consumer E-Satisfaction and Site Stickiness:
An Evaluation in the Context of Online Hotel Reservations"

Greta L. Polites
Clay K. Williams
Elena Karahanna
Larry Seligman
E-satisfaction, defined in this study as overall satisfaction with an e-vendor's website, is considered an important factor in encouraging loyalty to that site. Yet, to date, findings have varied tremendously, in both the strength of the satisfaction-loyalty relationship and factors surrounding it. We approach the study of e-satisfaction and e-loyalty (here termed "site stickiness") from a site-specific perspective, meaning that we focus on consumer perceptions of satisfaction with, and loyalty toward, the information technology (IT) artifact (website) itself, excluding outside influences, such as offline interactions with the e-vendor and post-consumption experiences. We further seek to understand the satisfaction-stickiness relationship in the context of the hospitality industry, where loyalty programs are believed to play a key role in impacting consumer behavior. We ground our research model in Bagozzi's 1992<http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10919392.2012.64224!

2#CIT0005> framework of the self-regulation of attitudes, intentions, and behavior, and test it using a survey of 4838 consumers who visited a large hotel chain's website for the specific purpose of researching room rates and availability as a prelude to booking a room. Results generally support the proposed model. Post hoc analyses indicate that while trust is not a significant direct predictor of satisfaction, it negatively moderates the value-satisfaction relationship. Loyalty card membership, while an important predictor of site stickiness, does not moderate the satisfaction-stickiness relationship as suggested in prior research. This indicates further research is necessary to explore other ways of conceptualizing the impact of loyalty programs, such as investigating member vestedness.

"Why Do Consumers Go Internet Shopping Again?
Understanding the Antecedents of Repurchase Intention"

Yue-Yang Chen

Consumer intention of reusing online websites for shopping has a major consequence for an electronic commerce company's profitability. Therefore, understanding the factors that influence online customers' repurchase intentions is of great importance to the EC companies. Drawing on specific dimensions of Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), Information Systems continuance model, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and empirical findings from prior studies as antecedents, the related factors were adapted and integrated within the context of Internet shopping repurchase intentions and were tested in a field study. Empirical data for hypotheses testing were collected from the online virtual store of 7-ELEVEN in Taiwan, yielding 444 valid samples. The results show that online consumer repurchase intention is determined by satisfaction, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and Internet shopping self-efficacy. Satisfaction is influenced by perceived usefulness, perceived ease of u!

se, confirmation, and positive Internet shopping experience. Perceived usefulness, in turn, is influenced by behavior modeling, positive Internet shopping experience, Internet shopping self-efficacy, and confirmation. Confirmation is affected by positive Internet shopping experience and behavior modeling. In addition, confirmation has significant effects on perceived ease of use. Finally, positive Internet shopping experience appeared to have a significant impact on Internet shopping self-efficacy. From the empirical data, meaningful findings and conclusions are derived, and suggestions for future research are also discussed.

"A Cross-National Study on Online Consumer Perceptions, Trust, and Loyalty"

Sonia San-Mart?n
Carmen Camarero

This article analyzes the validity of signaling theory and relationship marketing in e-commerce and in two different countries with different stages of technology development. We advance a model that reflects the role played by website characteristics as determinant factors of trust and loyalty to the website. The model is tested for young Internet users. It is examined in Spanish and Japanese contexts to ascertain whether any differences emerge due to differing cultures and shopping contexts. Results reveal few differences between Spain and Japan, despite their contrasting development of e-commerce and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Customer service is the most important website signal to engender trust, a feature closely linked to loyalty both in Japan and Spain. However, reputation seems more important when engaging Japanese buyers' trust, whereas only website design has an impact on Spanish buyers' trust.

"Power-Dependence and Reseller Influence on SMEs' Continued Use of Online Direct Sales Channels: An Empirical Study"

Xiaolin Li
Suvankar Ghosh

A dual-channel model with a physical sales channel and an online direct sales channel (ODSC) frequently causes channel conflicts. Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) using such a model may be forced to suspend ODSC to ease conflicts and maintain traditional resellers. From a channel conflict perspective, this study investigates a few critical factors underlying SMEs' intention to continue with an existing ODSC. We develop a research model by integrating power-dependence theory and the technology acceptance model. Then we construct and administer a survey to a sample of US SMEs currently using the dual-channel model. Partial least squares regression is employed to analyze the data and evaluate the impact of four key factors on SMEs' continuance of ODSCs: perceived business value of ODSCs, perceived ease of continuance with ODSCs, reseller dependence, and reseller forceful actions. Findings of the study contribute to the understanding of supplier-reseller relationships !

and continued use of information technologies among SMEs.

*Theme*
The complexity of corporate information technology (IT) environments has been steadily growing in the last decades, and keeping pace with an ever-changing business environment has become a constant challenge. In response, architectural considerations have become a key concern in today's information management. It is acknowledged that only continuous and holistic management of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) can ensure the sustainability, agility, and strategic alignment of corporate IT environments.
Enterprise architecture management (EAM) has evolved as a discipline, beginning in the 1990s. Early work centered on architecture models, principles, and standards that comprise the content of the EA. As companies gain practical experience implementing EA concepts, they become more concerned with the management aspects in EAM, the effectiveness of EAM and its success factors. Despite a growing body of EA-related knowledge, different definitions of EAM coexist, ranging from enterprise-wide IT management to enterprise development and transformation. Correspondingly, researchers have identified substantial differences with respect to the objectives followed, the methodology employed, and the organizational implementation of EAM in practice. This has stimulated studies related to EAM adoption scenarios and situational aspects of EAM implementation. Still, though, EAM is a relatively young and immature discipline, characterized by a great variety of research approaches and a stro!

ng focus on conceptual frameworks and models. Until recently, theoretically rounded research on EAM practice has been rather limited.
With this special issue, the journal Information Systems and e-Business Management seeks to stimulate EAM research. We invite original submissions of novel research that advances our understanding of EAM as a management discipline. We are open to all types of contributions, including conceptual, design-oriented, and theory-building papers. We encourage authors to submit contributions that are lively and will inspire readers from both academia and industry.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following.
1) The EAM discipline and its relationship to other management disciplines (e.g., strategic management, organizational development, IT management).
2) Specific EAM application contexts (e.g., IT/business alignment, business transformation, M&A, outsourcing).
3) EAM strategy (EAM positioning and goals, EAM services/"products," communication and stakeholder involvement).
4) Conceptualizing EAM (e.g., meta models, roadmaps, specific architectures such as business architecture).
5) EAM organization and governance (e.g., processes, organizational roles, monitoring, and key performance indicators).
6) EAM tool support and EAM-related standards.
7) Organizational implementation of EAM (e.g., situational adaptation).
8) EAM adoption and success.
9) EAM value (metrics, funding, and charging).
10) Innovative EAM case studies

Workshop Background and Goals

Information Systems Security is one of the most pressing challenges facing all kinds of organizations today. Although many companies have discovered how critical information is to the success of their business or operations, very few have managed to be effective in maintaining their information secure, avoiding unauthorized access, preventing intrusions, stopping secret information disclosure, etc.

There are various definitions of security, but all of them basically agree on the same components. Security in information systems considers the protection of information and of the systems that manage it, against a wide range of threats in order to ensure business continuity, minimize risks and maximize the return on investment and business opportunities.

Security is, therefore, currently a widespread and growing concern that covers all areas of society: business, domestic, financial, government, and so on. In fact, the so-called information society is increasingly dependent on a wide range of software systems whose mission is critical, such as air traffic control systems, financial systems, or public health systems. The potential losses that are faced by businesses and organizations that rely on all these systems, both hardware and software, therefore signify that it is crucial for information systems to be properly secured from the outset.

With the increasing dependence that the information society has on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the need to protect information is increasingly important for companies. The demand for products, systems and services with which to manage and maintain information is therefore increasing, and the realization of superficial security controls is not sufficient. It is necessary to apply a rigorous approach to the assessing and improvement of the security of products and processes that take place in the context of ICT. This has led to the emergence of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), which are of great importance to the stability of companies' information systems.

In this new edition of WOSIS, the traditional information systems security topics will remain but we want explicitly focus the workshop on one of the most important issues and currently considered as it is security in Cloud computing. Although there are many benefits to adopting cloud computing, there are also some significant barriers to adoption as is security followed by issues regarding compliance, privacy and legal matters. Security is the main obstacle for many organizations in their move to the cloud, related to risk areas such as external data storage, dependency on the "public" internet, multi-tenancy and integration with internal security. The objective of this new edition is to contribute to the study and analysis of solutions and approaches which help to achieve and facilitate the level of security needed for such distributed environments and that its adoption is not any problem for the society, administration and enterprise.

to the natural ecological and environmental domains. Green IT relatively
recently became a popular topic at conferences and in publications.
While this is an important issue, sustainability may also refer to the
maintenance of the complex weave of social systems. Again there is a
very wide range of meanings of what "social systems" means, but for the
purpose of this track, social ecology would be the focus.

Information Systems (IS) theory traditionally focuses on IS for
organizations, typically business organizations, assuming all other
kinds of social organizations (such as government organizations and
non-government organizations) to be variants of business systems. The PC
itself was developed as a business tool, and only over the past two
decades with its ability to handle multimedia also became a tool for
entertainment. Over the past decade the networked PC became a powerful
tool also in personal communication and private socialization in the
form of the so-called social media. The rise into prominence of the PC
as a tool of entertainment, communication and social media put
information systems in the hands of individuals for the use of
non-business purposes - i.e. for non-structured or semi-structured
social organizations and personal use. The recent mobilization of
non-structured socio-political gatherings on the Mediterranean and in
the Middle East were made possible by social media technology; while
citizen pressure groups use social media to get their voices heard,
demonstrated by the several million objections early in 2012 against the
proposed Antipiracy Bills in the USA. What is the impact of such
non-formal social groups and individual use on the design and
construction of information systems? Should design be about
Human-Computer-Interface (HCI), or about Human-Human Communication
(HHC), facilitated by technology? Similar questions were recently posed
at other conferences, eg. the Interaction conference -
http://www.siliconrepublic.com/new-media/item/25639-in-interaction-design/

The PC is no longer the dominant device for entertainment, personal
communication and private socialization purposes. Mobile phone
distribution has surpassed the PC in 2010 in market-share. The prominent
past view of the client-server model, where client meant PC, has changed
to a model where client now means mobile device - either mobile phone or
tablet. Do the same principles of IS developed for the PC still apply?

Ecologically, sustainability has global implications. If social
sustainability also implies global social sustainability, all societies
and the complex web of international networks (technological as well as
social) need to be considered. IS systems in the developing world, which
makes up the majority of people on this planet, thus also need to be
considered. However, distribution of network infrastructure in the
developing world is poor, while most commerce takes place in the
informal business sector and on the level of micro businesses. In
addition, the mobile market dominates the PC market by far in the
developing world. With its emphasis on formal organizational IS, which
meant business and mostly big business, and at best medium-sized
businesses, there is not much research in IS circles on information
systems for micro-organizations and micro-businesses. IS research also
typically assumes 24/7 broadband connectivity, which is hard to come by
in the developing world. So how does cloud computing apply in this
environment? And how should IS be designed for this environment?

Since the discipline of IS was introduced some time ago, the world has
changed in the ways described above. What are the implications of this
trend for future IS research and for principles to build sustainable IS?
Do we need different theories and models for mobile systems,
micro-organizations, individuals, social groups, and the developing
world? Does /status quo/IS hold? These are the questions to be addressed
in this track. Briefly then, what are the design implications for IS in
the long-term outcome of these trends and events? Should information
systems consider expanding the scope of the field, or can the existing
IS conceptual tools deal with this?
