TRACK COVERAGE
Today, most activities and products used by firms or consumers require 
IT or related technologies to come to fruition. The firm or consumer 
needs to continuously conduct the right IT investments to compete in the 
modern digital world. In the context of businesses, major IT/IS are 
usually costly, complex and have far reaching organizational 
implications that need to be understood in order to invest. Research has 
successfully provided a wide range of decision support systems, 
frameworks and processes, methods and tools. However, actual evaluation 
practice still struggles and ignores many of these resources. IT 
decision makers are regularly not satisfied with their IT evaluation and 
decision making procedures, which are often seen as “weak links” in IT 
projects. New regulation and compliance directives tend to complicate 
the situation further. It is expected that many interesting research 
questions can be related to these issues. We intend to bring together 
researchers and practitioners from various fields in this context.

RECOMMENDED TOPICS
This track encourages the submission of research papers, 
research-in-progress papers, teaching cases, and panel proposals in the 
following areas (but not limited to):
- The development of IT decision making methods and process frameworks
- IT support (e.g. Decision Support Systems) for IT decisions
- Structures and models of IT evaluations
- The role of regulation and legislation in IT evaluations and audits
- The role of organizational issues (stakeholders, funding situation, 
management support)
- Current IT evaluation/decision taxonomies and profiles
- The impact of IT investments on organizational or individual performance
