*Big Data, The next frontier to define for innovation and productivity

*The amount of data in our world has been exploding. Companies capture
trillions of bytes of information about their customers, suppliers, and
operations, and millions of networked sensors are being embedded in the
physical world through the exponential spread of electronic devices. Given
the specificities of such voluminous and high-velocity data, a new term was
coined: Big Data.

Therefore, traditional approaches are now being questioned. How can
organizations innovate with such voluminous and high-velocity data? And,
how can academic researchers propose innovative thinking in this area?

By putting its main focus on this crucial research area, AIM 2013 calls for
original research works that could enlighten academic peers and
practitioners on this topic generating a tremendous interest.

>From a theoretical perspective, it seems relevant to question whether the
classic methods mobilized so far in our field in terms of data robustness
and reliability are still appropriate. From the managerial view, we would
like to invite researchers to discuss the impacts of this phenomenon on IT
costs, skills, but also to broaden this debate with issues related to
ethics and security. We also would be interested to understand how the
decision-making process of managers is affected by the spread of big data?

Hereunder, we suggest a number of topics of interest for this special theme
(but not limited to). However, the conference remains open to all paper
proposals that bear relevance to the Information System field.

Impacts of Big Data on IS Methods, and theoretical apparatus

· Data collection for quantitative and qualitative research: are the
classic research methods obsolete when dealing with Big Data?

· Big Data modeling and visualizing: How to make it simple, reliable,
useful and relevant?

· Big Data processing: Does it change anything?

Impacts of Big Data on the Management of Information Systems

· How to handle/integrate big data solutions and legacy systems?

· How to handle data processing from multiple sources?

· Reflections toward the definition of Big Data: voluminous, high
velocity, real time, non- structured, and ownership of the data. Does
everything need to be defined?

· IT Architecture and Big Data

· Big Data integrity, ethics and legal issue

· Being Visible and Being watched within Big Data environments

· Quantity vs Quality?

· Big data: a move toward Big Brother?

· Big Data: Any functional challenge?

· Big Data project: success/failure stories

· Return On Investment for Big Data projects.

· Big Data and inter-organizational IS.

· Which skills to handle/pilot for running big data projects?

· How to integrate Big Data management within Business Intelligence
projects?

· Big Data and Big Information: synonyms?

· How to identify weak signals within voluminous data?

· How to take decisions while overwhelmed with data?

· Big data and integrated systems: toward more and more integration?

· Big Data and Defense & Security
