* *Emerging technologies in business intelligence and analytics and social
media are fueling a need for innovative curricula in online, traditional
and hybrid delivery format that meets the industry needs. In keeping with
the theme of “Reshaping Society”, we are seeking research contributions
into the pedagogical practices that address acquisition, application, and
continued development of the knowledge and skills required in the usage of
analytics, collaboration, and decision support systems with special focus
on business intelligence and social media.

Contributions could be *comprehensive research* or
*research-in-progress*in teaching and learning addressing topics
including but not limited to:

·         Case studies (with teaching note) that provide rich stories of
individual organizations' management and technological initiatives and
address a variety of issues in adoption and implementation of analytics,
collaboration, and decision support technologies:

-          Different stakeholders involved in decision making process and
their role in implementation success

-          Training, professional education, and other approaches to build
competencies required for implementation of these technologies in companies

-          Demonstrate effectiveness of a technological solution approach
versus other alternatives

-          Role of strategic planning in adoption and implementation
success

-          Organizational challenges and barriers

-          Metrics to measure effectiveness of these technologies to
enhance business value

-          Ethical and/or global issues
·         Learning methodologies, classroom innovation, and pedagogy
·         Curriculum development with assessment methods
·         Pedagogical approaches using gaming and/or simulation and their
effectiveness
·         Use of hardware and/or software to enhance pedagogy
·         Developing hands-on software experiences and software tutorials
·         Integrating real-world scenario in curricula
·         Pedagogical practices in developing interdisciplinary focus that
cuts across traditional functional areas
·         Industry collaborations to create simulated industry projects
·         Innovative approaches to delivering the content of online
delivery models for courses in these areas
·         Differentiating analytics, collaboration and decision support
curricula for Undergraduate, MBA and Executive Education, and Master of
Science and tailoring curricula to generalists and specialists.

*Paper Guidelines*:
Please use the ICIS formatting
guidelines<http://icis2013.aisnet.org/index.php/submissions>for your
paper submission.
Review criteria are as follows:

   - Topic is relevant to track's theme and will draw an audience.
   - Objectives and issues are clear and well-described.
   - Paper and/or teaching case is clearly written.
   - Paper and/or teaching case is well organized and flows logically.
   - Literature integration is appropriate.
   - Methodology (or case exhibit) is appropriate.
   - Analyses are appropriate
   - Evidence supports authors' arguments.
   - Paper makes contributions to the field, or has potential for
   contributions.

*Page Limit Requirements*:
Full papers must not exceed 14 pages. Teaching note for cases must not
exceed five (5) single-spaced pages.
Research-in-progress papers must not exceed 7 pages.
All submissions must conform to the ICIS 2013 submission template and
follow the instructions document. The page limit must include all text,
figures, and tables. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are
excluded from this page count. Please use the template provided on the
workshop website.

All accepted papers will be published in the Pre-ICIS SIGDSS workshop
proceedings. Authors will retain copyright ownership. Quality papers will
be selected for publication in the* Annals of Information Systems *in
a *Special
Issue on “Reshaping Society through Analytics, Collaboration, and Decision
Support: Role of BI and Social Media”* (Springer); however, they will be
subject to further review and editing as determined by the book editors.

Very limited number of papers may be selected for virtual presentation
session based on logistic constraints of the workshop. The review criteria
will be the same for all submissions. If accepted for the virtual
presentation session, the presentation mechanism details will be
communicated to the authors by the track chairs.

Monday, October 28, 2013     Camera ready papers for workshop due by
midnight PST
Sunday, December 15, 2013   SIGDSS Pre-ICIS workshop from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm
Monday, February 10, 2014   Selected manuscripts, camera ready version due
for final editorial review
