Keeping with the "Reshaping Society" theme of the ICIS conference, the
Pre-ICIS 2013 SIGDSS workshop seeks forward-thinking research in the areas
of analytics, collaboration and decision support with special focus on
business intelligence and social media.****

Business Intelligence (BI)/ Decision Support (DSS)/ Analytics have become
core to many businesses. The social media scape has come to modify and
redefine not only businesses but also societal behavior and practices.
Although addressed by research in the past few years, these domains are
still evolving. For instance, the explosive growth in big data and social
media analytics requires examination of the impact of these technologies
and applications on business and society. Similarly, traditional approaches
to collaboration and decision support are experiencing evolution and growth
from BI and social media technologies and trends. As organizations in
various sectors formulate IT strategies and investments, it is imperative
to understand how various emerging technologies under the BI/DSS umbrella
such as big data, mobile and wireless technologies, cloud computing, and
recent collaboration tools can be used effectively for decision making in
these organizations.****

This research track aims to promote theoretical, design science, behavioral
research and emerging applications in innovative areas of analytics,
collaboration and decision support. We seek *comprehensive research and
research-in-process* in topics including but not limited to:****

**· **Technical, behavioral, or managerial issues in the area of decision
support, collaboration and analytics.****

**· **Data-driven Decision Support, Reporting Analytics and Business
Intelligence: Data modeling and database design; data warehousing and big
data and large scale data storage; in-memory analytics; data visualization
and analytics; OLAP and executive support.****

**· **Knowledge-driven Decision Support, Data Mining and Management Expert
Systems Applications: Application of knowledge technologies (e.g., text
mining, data mining, rule-based systems, semantic web technologies) to
address specific decision support needs; mobile technologies and
applications for decision support.****

**· **Model-driven Decision Support and Predictive Analytics: Model
formulation, “what if?” analysis, model versioning and maintenance, model
management in cloud computing and mobile technology environments.****

**· **Document-driven Decision Support: Knowledge coding, analysis, search
and retrieval for decision support for a variety of devices (e.g., tablets,
smartphones).****

**· **Design and Development of Decision Support: Designing for improved
decision performance; metrics for data warehousing, BI, and analytics.****

**· **Communications-driven and group decision support: impact of
computer, collaboration and communication technologies in supporting group
tasks including decision making; impact of social media on group decision
making; socio-technical gaps in decision support systems.****

**· **Decision Outcomes and Performance Evaluation: Effects of using
decision technologies.****

**· **Decision support user interface design, standards, features; impact

success and strong impact.****

*All accepted papers will be published in the Pre-ICIS SIGDSS workshop
proceedings. Authors will retain copyright ownership. Quality papers will
be selected for publication in the Annals of Information Systems in a
