CALL FOR PAPERS: 7th CONFERENCE of the AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER
ETHICS (AiCE 2013)



The 7th CONFERENCE of the AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER ETHICS (AiCE)
will be held on 3rd December, 2013, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.



The 7th AiCE conference will be held at the RMIT City Campus, Melbourne,
Victoria, Australia. The 7th AiCE conference will be held before the start
of the 24th Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS) 4-6th
December, RMIT City Campus, Melbourne.



The Conference Theme: Ethics and Governance issues of new emerging
technologies.



The overall theme of AiCE 2013 will be to explore new emerging themes and
relationships between ethics / governance and new emerging technologies.



Example areas of interest for papers:



·         Cloud Computing - the privacy and ethical issues relating to the
use of cloud computing and associated applications;

·         Social Media – what impact has social media and related systems
had upon society;

·         Drone Technology – the impact of semi autonomous and autonomous
drone technology upon warfare and law enforcement;

·         Governance issues of the Internet – should the Internet be
controlled and if so how could this happen;

·         Developing systems now and into the future - how to ensure social
value issues are properly addressed;

·         Ethics of wearable technology – what will be the impact of new
wearable technologies, e.g. how will Google Glass impact society.



Submissions on other relevant topics are also welcome. Papers will be
submitted in the form of a discussion paper. The aim of the 7th AiCE
conference will be to explore the impact of new emerging technologies and
help to generate new research ideas.



All submissions will be in English and will take the form of a discussion
paper of between 500-1000 words. All submission should be in Microsoft Word
format.



The discussion papers will be reviewed for relevance to the conference.



Important dates:



·         Discussion papers due: 28th November, 2013.

·         Notification of reviewing outcome: 29th November, 2013.

·         Final formatted discussion papers due: 31st November, 2013.
