*Business Informatics Department Chair - Position Announcement*

The Business Informatics department at Northern Kentucky University invites
applications for the position of Department Chair. The new chair will
assume duties by July 1, 2014. The Business Informatics department,
formerly the Information Systems department, is part of the College of
Informatics (http://informatics.nku.edu), which is also home to the
departments of Computer Science and Communication as well as the Center for
Applied Informatics. The College has experienced continual growth since it
was created in 2005, and now enrolls over 2,100 students. It moved into its
state-of-the-art $52M new building, Griffin Hall, in 2011.

The Business Informatics department offers an AACSB accredited Bachelor of

Professions and the College of Business and has created joint graduate
programs with Chase College of Law.

A successful department chair will promote excellence in teaching and
scholarship, maintain a focus on student success, and encourage
cross-disciplinary collaboration, innovative curricula, and experiential
learning, the key hallmarks of the college. The duties of the chair
include: maintenance, development, and evaluation of innovative academic
programs, personnel and budgetary management, responsibilities to students,
mentoring and evaluating faculty, and a 1-1 teaching load. The Chair is a
member of the College’s Executive Team and reports to the Dean of the
College.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or DBA in Information Systems or a closely
related field from an AACSB accredited university. The chair will have a
record of effective teaching and scholarly activity appropriate for
appointment to either the Associate or Full Professor level at an AACSB
accredited school, administrative experience in an academic environment,
and effective communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to bring
in external funding through research or community sources is desirable.

Review of applications will begin on November 15 and continue until the
position is filled. Apply through the weblink:

supporting materials: a cover letter; a statement describing the
applicant’s experience and philosophy in working in and promoting
interdisciplinary environments, programs, and courses; a curriculum vitae;
and a list of five references complete with contact information. The
references will be contacted only during the final stages of the selection
process. Inquiries can be sent to raghavan at nku.edu. Salary is commensurate
with the position and responsibilities at an AACSB accredited department
and will also be appropriate to the Academic Rank.
