in Entrepreneurship


The Department of Technology Management at the University of California,
Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a tenured position in
Entrepreneurship, at the Associate or Full Professor level. Applicants
should be able to contribute to Entrepreneurship in the areas of technology
management, empirical and analytical research methods, or data driven
business intelligence. We have a preference for candidates with expertise
in research and/or related activities connected to California's Silicon
Valley. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be appointed
to the proposed Narinder Kapany Professorship in Entrepreneurship and lead
the UCSC School of Engineering, Center for Entrepreneurship.
Our program emphasizes and has strengths in data sciences, technology
management, and economics of information and technology. Given the
proximity of UCSC to Silicon Valley and its new Silicon Valley campus, our
faculty often have substantive research ties to Silicon Valley firms. The
campus's commitment to entrepreneurship includes the Center for
Entrepreneurship, which promotes both commercialization of discoveries and
innovations achieved by UCSC researchers and students and curriculum
development.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research
program; to teach (including classroom and mentoring) and advise students
at the graduate and undergraduate level; contribute significantly to
graduate education; and undertake service obligations.

We seek scholars with direct experience establishing and leading high
technology enterprises and evidence of a developed research trajectory.
Significant teaching experience, including doctoral supervision, is highly
desirable. The successful candidate should be able to work with students,
faculty and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.
Applicants should be willing to create, lead, and participate in UCSC
entrepreneurship-related programs. We are especially interested in
candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the
academic community.

RANK: Associate Professor or Full Professor
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in industrial and
systems engineering, operations research, financial engineering, computer
science or a relevant field; demonstrated record of establishing and
leading high technology enterprises; demonstrated record of research that
includes peer-reviewed publications; demonstrated record in teaching and/or
lecturing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Active research program focusing on data
sciences, technology management, or economics of information and
technology; expertise in empirical and analytical research methods;
research and/or related activities connected to California's Silicon
Valley; and a proven record of fundraising.
