CALL FOR PAPERS FOR the Mini-track:

The Good, Bad and Ugly of Social Networking
Part of
Social-Technical Issues and Social Inclusion

As the Social media expands it has both good and bad impact on society. The good part allows individuals to keep connected and exchange information and ideas that otherwise maybe hard to share. The bad part allows participants to post unwanted pictures (like the Rutgers student case), make inappropriate comments and in general breach normal code of ethics. The ugly part involves criminal behavior like luring young kids for sex, hiring for criminal acts, cyberbullying, etc. Typical stakeholders are the participants, friends, general public and the content/social site providers. Internet and social media are free and there is no censorship. However as social media diffuses there is need for some "ethical" control and "ethical" filtering. This mini track aims to discuss "netEthics" from several different perspectives, namely, diversity, gender, nationality on one hand and different stakeholder's perspectives on the other hand. Specifically, we will be interested in networked research that analyzes social networks and suggests ethical standards for filtering and control (inclusion/exclusion) without jeopardizing the "free" spirit of the internet and social media.
The mini track will address ethical issues related to the good, bad and the ugly aspect of social networking as well as the underlying theories of group dynamics, coordination, communications and behavioral and challenging aspects of social indulgence.

Examples of topics in the discussion of the mini-track will include the following (but are not limited to):

* The good, bad and the ugly of Internet inclusion
* Impact of inclusion/exclusion of communities
