CONTENTS OF VOLUME 18, NUMBER 1, (January - March, 2015) OF THE JOURNAL OF
GLOBAL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT (JGITM)

IT FOR GREEN, A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
Ricardo Colomo-Palacios, Østfold University College, Norway,
rcolomo at gmail.com
In today’s environment, the sustainability of energy supply and consumption
must be based on better management solutions and new technologies in the
generation, distribution and consumption of energy. Information Technology
(IT) is one of the main players in energy consumption in the world. As a
reaction to that, the so-called Green IT movement has emerged. This field
of study is aimed to reduce IT-related energy consumption and overall IT
environmental impact. This editorial discusses various issues in Green IT
and suggests areas of future research,

THE RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OUTSOURCING MARKET:
POTENTIAL, BARRIERS AND MANAGEMENT CONSIDERATIONS

Amy B. Woszcynski, Kennesaw State University, USA, awoszczy at kennesaw.edu
Humayun Zafar, Kennesaw State University, USA, hzafar at kennesaw.edu
Pamila Dembla, Kennesaw State University, USA, pdembla at kennesaw.edu
This study describes the advantages and disadvantages of IT outsourcing to
Ukraine and Russia. Our results assist technology managers who wish to
make an informed decision on whether or not to outsource IT projects to
Russian/Ukraine, considering two important issues: 1) the political,
economic, and social landscape, and the advantages and disadvantages of
choosing to locate IT projects in the region; and 2) the Russian/Ukrainian
IT workers’ teamwork perceptions. While the results indicate that
well-educated and teamwork-oriented Russian and Ukrainian information
technology employees may increase the chances of IT outsourcing success, we
remain skeptical regarding the political, economic, legal, social, and
business environments.

A FRAMEWORK FOR INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY INDUCED
TRANSFORMATION OF THE HEALTHCARE BUSINESS MODEL IN SLOVENIA
Dalibor Stanimirovic, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia,
dalibor.stanimirovic at fu.uni-lj.si
Functional integration of planned ICT solutions with various business
aspects of the healthcare system has remained largely ignored in Slovinia,
while the existing and obsolete business model of the healthcare system
continues to operate significantly limited and unadapted to the increasing
penetration of ICTs. This study explores the characteristics and structure
of the BM concept, identifies the impending effects of informatization on
the healthcare BM, and provides a framework for ICT-induced transformation
of the existing healthcare BM in Slovenia. Results imply that the
transformation of the healthcare BM should consider various factors
including a redefinition of the functions and relationships of and between
the main actors of the BM, and the reconfiguration of the organizational,
structural, and technological elements in line with the long-term business
objectives.

Hsien-Lee Tseng, Taiwan E-Governance Research Center, Taiwan,
nova1219 at gmail.com
Ya-Ching Lee, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan,
yaclee at cm.nsysu.edu.tw
Pin-Yu Chu, National Chengchi University, Taiwan, vchu at nccu.edu.tw
This study applies the organizational information processing theory to
investigate if the fit between the firms’ outside environment and inside
ability enhance business performance, which includes e-commerce processing
needs and e-commerce processing capability. More precisely, examined are
the mediation effects of improvisational capabilities, for the fit concept,
on performance. Results indicate that e-commerce processing needs

processes performance, encourages learning and growth, elevates customer
satisfaction, and increases financial performance.
