[AISWorld] About this list

Given that we are the AIS group, is it possible that we spend some
resources making this email message more functional and technologically up
to date?

For example, can we automatically hyper-link the topics so that we don't
need to scroll through to get to the ones we want. In this message for
example - could we make it so that "4" would link directly to the details
of the MISQ Editor nominations and at the bottom of each would be a return
to index link ?

This is more than just convenience (though it would in fact be much more
convenient). We would be applying some of the technologies, theories and
ideas that we espouse in our classrooms. There are times we I think that
we are the children in the tale of the cobbler. Running around shoeless.

One other small thing - could we move the consistent boilerplate text
(That which begins "Send AIS mailing...." and ends with "Contents of AIS
digest...") to below the summary list. This moves the key part of the
message front and centre and reduces scrolling for those of reading on
smaller devices.

My apologies if this is not the right way to request this - it is just
that like most of you I get a lot of email and this has bothered me for a
while. It would be nice if we were state of the art in at least some
areas.

CALL FOR PAPERS

HICSS2016 Minitrack: Mobile App Development
(Software Technology Track)
http://www.hicss.org/#!mobile-app-development/ct6k

January 5-8, 2016
Grand Hyatt, Kauai
http://www.hicss.org/

MINITRACK DESCRIPTION
Applications for mobile devices (apps) have facilitated the success
of smartphones and tablet PCs. By using apps, the multi-purpose
hardware of modern devices can be utilized to the full extent. Due to
the proliferation of mobile devices as a tool for consumers,
businesses increasingly embrace the topic. However, actually
improving business processes or even finding a mobile strategy is not
straightforward. Neither is the usage of so called business apps. In
many cases, development of business apps is prone to problems and
companies face technology choices they have little information for.

Developing business apps poses specific requirements due to their
business-critical nature. Compared to apps in general, higher quality
standards should be met, apps need to be more secure and robust, and
requirements need to be carefully engineered (and then met),
according to industry standards. Testing of apps has been found to be
very cumbersome. Whether (and to what extent) methods of classical
software engineering can be applied still is matter of discussion.
Moreover, new challenges such as development for multiple platforms,
device fragmentation, context-sensitivity, performance issues,
mobility-depended security issues and energy conservation arise.
Therefore, new threads of research are needed to tackle these issues
and pave the way for better business producibility.

The minitrack is devoted to (business) apps development and the
technological background of mobile computing for corporate or other
domain-specific non-consumer usage. Topics of interests include (but
are not limited to)
o App development within a domain context
o Economic and/or social impact of mobile computing
o Make-or-buy decisions in app development
o Engineering of apps for business processes
o Requirements engineering for apps
o Development methods for apps including the applicability of
existing methods to app development
o User interface (UI) design research for apps and the bridge to
Human-Computer-Interaction (HCI) research
o Internet of things (IoT) and apps
o Testing of apps
o Business models for apps
o Cross-platform development
o Webapps vs. native apps vs. hybrid apps
o Responsiveness of apps for different device types (smartphone,
tablet, desktop, wearables, etc.)
o Business app security
o Legal aspects of app development, distribution, and usage
o Energy efficient computing on mobile devices
o Enterprise distribution of apps and Mobile device management (MDM)
o Sensor-usage for business apps

IMPORTANT DATES
15 June 2015 : Submission of full manuscripts
15 August 2015: Acceptance notifications

POSSIBLE PAPER EXTENSION
The Mobile App Development minitrack will be held for the first time;
in case of several high-quality submissions and a positive overall
perception of the sessions at HICSS, we will provide post-conference
publication opportunities for revised and extended papers, e.g. as
part of a journal special issue. Definite plans will be made in
consultation with authors of accepted papers.

Please consider to approach us with an abstract to check suitability
to the minitrack. In case of questions, please feel free to contact

European Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work (ECSCW 2015)
Call for Demo, Video and Poster submissions
September 19-23 2015
Oslo, Norway
http://www.ecscw2015.no/
Deadline for submission: 18th May 2015, 23:59 GMT
***********************************************************************

ECSCW is a series of international conferences on computer-supported
cooperative work located in Europe. The conference series is affiliated
with the European Society for Socially Embedded Technologies (EUSSET). The
ECSCW conference is an important venue for defining and further developing
the agenda of CSCW research. It addresses themes like:

* human practice in work and other activities: how can we understand W?
* cooperation and its characteristics (e.g. the role of awareness): how
can we understand CW?
* methods for investigating human practices: the role of ethnography in
CSCW
* digital and other material artefacts in cooperative work: how can we
understand CS?
* design of CSCW: challenges and explorations

The ECSCW conferences are single-track conferences that contribute to
developing an interdisciplinary ECSCW community. The conference format
aims to facilitate critical discussion across disciplinary and national
borders in the field. ECSCW will offer multiple ways of contributing and
discussing research, including full papers, exploratory (short) papers,
demos and videos in addition to workshops and master classes.

**********************************
Demos, Videos and Posters at ECSCW
**********************************

Live demonstrations, videos and posters are an important part of the
conference technical program:

* Demonstrations present implementations of new CSCW systems and concepts,
videos open up for presenting processes and novel methods.
* Posters are an opportunity to present late-breaking or smaller results
not suitable for a Paper, innovative ideas not yet validated through user
studies, student research, and other research best presented in this open
format

We invite researchers and practitioners to submit demos, videos or posters
of both research prototypes and commercial products. This will allow
conference participants to view and try out novel and noteworthy CSCW
systems in action, and will enable discussion on them. Accepted videos,
demos and posters will be presented in a special session at the conference
and stay during the conference, which will allow participants to discuss
with the authors throughout the conference.

**********
Submission
**********

Proposals for demos and videos should use the ECSCW formatting
instructions and include both an abstract and a description of the demo,
video or poster. The proposal should not contain more than 3000 words,
including the abstract. The description should contain
* Title of the system / demo / video / poster submission
* Description of the system / process / concept to be presented and its
relation to CSCW
* Related work
* Technical support required at the conference
* Videos only: If available, a link to a video should be provided with the
submission
* Posters only: A draft for the poster to be shown at the conference (A0
format)

If available, a link to a video should be provided with the submission.
Submissions should be sent through the ECSCW 2015 electronic submission
system.
