The College of Business and Entrepreneurship at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is seeking applications for two Tenure Track Assistant Professors in Information Systems to teach undergraduate/graduate courses, engage in high-impact scholarly research/publications, and provide institutional/professional service beginning in the fall of 2015.
UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions and are committed to UTRGV's guiding principles (http://www.utrgv.edu/en-us/about-utrgv/transition-plan/guiding-principles), which include promoting access to postsecondary education to a diverse student body and to become one of the largest and most successful Hispanic-serving emerging research institutions in the U.S.A.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should have an earned doctorate in IS or closely related field from a Carnegie research university/AACSB International accredited institution. The ABD applicants must complete their doctorate before the fall 2015 semester. Applicants must have at least 18 hours of IS and IT related graduate courses.
Applicants must have the ability to teach a variety of computer and management information systems courses: computer security, electronic commerce, telecommunications, database management, and programming languages. Research interests in the area of Health Information Technology (HIT), Information Security, or Data Analytics are desired. A strong interest in teaching and research is expected along with a willingness to provide service to the department, college, university, and community. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, a collegial approach to faculty and student interactions, and a sincere appreciation of cultural diversity.

Additional Information UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
