ITS (www.itsworld.org<http://www.itsworld.org>) is a leading international, non-aligned and not-for-profit organization association, of academic and industry professionals in the information, communications, and technology sectors, with a worldwide network of over 400 members.
The theme of the LA Regional ITS Conference is The Intelligent World: Realizing Hopes, Overcoming Challenges. Advancements in M2M (machine-to-machine) communication through ubiquitous and intelligent communication networks and the proliferation of sensors and end-user mobile devices, provides the potential to alleviate many societal problems, both nationally and internationally, from health-care and traffic fatalities to global sustainability. However, they have also created new problems, such as privacy and security. This conference will provide a forum for both industry practitioners, policy makers, from both governments and NGOs, and academia explore the challenges and issues related to achieving this reality globally. Some of the key questions that this conference will address are; i) What are the communications infrastructure and regulations necessary to support this vision?; ii) What are the appropriate transmission technologies and standards for developing countries?; iii) Are there sustainable business models for these services and applications? Abstract submissions of 500 words are invited on (but not restricted to) the following topics:

The LA Regional ITS Conference will be held at the Omni Hotel and Resort, Los Angeles. Centrally located in downtown Los Angeles, the hotel offers guests easy access to cultural venues, shopping, sports and entertainment, and fine dining. In addition, the hotel is located within two miles of the University of Southern California, where the Gala Dinner will be held. Special conference room rates, on limited availability, are available for attendees for hotel stays between Oct 24 to Oct 29 at US$215 per night based on single/double occupancy.
