The Department of Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics (CIS & BSAN) in the College of Business at James Madison University is seeking an assistant professor for a tenure-track appointment beginning in Fall 2016. The ideal candidate would be able to teach a variety of information systems topics in the areas of systems analysis and design, telecommunications, security, server administration, programming or business intelligence/analytics. A PhD in information systems, computer science, analytics, or a closely related field with a strong foundation in business applications is required. Special consideration will be given to candidates with teaching and industry experience spanning both technical domains and consulting/managerial areas. Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness with excellent communication skills and commitment to scholarly research are required. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in service to the department and profession.

About the Department: The CIS & BSAN Department is staffed by 26 full-time faculty and currently has over 500 undergraduate students in the CIS major. The department also serves both Business Analytics and CIS minors, as well as teaching several courses in the business core.  The CIS major is ABET-accredited and faculty have received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding teaching and service. In 2012 and 2013, Bloomberg Businessweek ranked the CIS program among the top ten undergraduate programs nationally. It was ranked #4 by College Factual in 2014.
About the College:  The AACSB-accredited College of Business includes nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate programs.  In 2014, Bloomberg BusinessWeek ranked the school's undergraduate program #17 among public universities in the nation, and #40 overall.  In 2015, the Information Security MBA was recognized as #12 in the nation for the Best Online MBA Programs and #3 for student engagement by U.S. News & World Report, and #11 in the Princeton Review's list of the top 25 Online MBA Programs.
