Workshop overview
Healthcare systems worldwide continue to strive for innovative approaches all levels of care delivery. Software Engineering will continue to play a crucial role in healthcare transformation. The goal of the International Workshop on Software Engineering in Healthcare Systems (SEHS) is to share and discuss recent advances in software engineering to drive healthcare transformation through innovation and integration at the micro, meso and macro levels. The workshop integrates the Foundations in Health Information Engineering and Systems (FHIES) and Software Engineering in Health Care (SEHC) communities.


Example Topics for Submission

Software quality, user interfaces, systems interoperability, safety, security, workflow integration, system quality, compliance and regulatory issues, revolution of the software development process, software engineering and healthcare innovation and transformation, and data analytics are just a few of the issues that our community faces.  For the 2016 SEHS workshop we invite submissions that explore the above challenges (as well as other software engineering topics relevant to healthcare systems and processes) and the role that software engineering plays in developing solutions to address them.

Submission Types

With the above topics as a starting point, the  SEHS 2016 workshop invites broad participation from people who are actively involved in research and development of software engineering in healthcare. To accommodate for the participation of projects in different stages of maturity, we seek a variety of contributions, including:
1. Short papers (up to 4 pages long) -- short papers include contributions that may report initial research results that might not yet be mature enough for a full research paper or position papers that presents forward looking ideas/concepts.
2. Tool descriptions (up to 4 pages long) -- tool papers report on tools that support one or more aspects of engineering health-related software systems.
3. Clinical case studies (up to 7 pages long) -- clinical case studies report on case studies that involve applying and evaluating software engineering techniques in a clinical setting.
4. Research results papers (up to 7 pages long) -- research papers describe novel results related to one or more topics of the workshop



All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee. All accepted submissions will be published in the ACM and IEEE Digital Libraries and will appear in the companion volume of the ICSE 2016 Proceedings. The official publication date of the workshop proceedings is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of ICSE 2016. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work
