ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS and HEAD OF THE COMPETENCE CENTER “DIGITAL BANKING”

The Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein is pleased to announce the following vacancy:
Assistant Professor in Information Systems and Head of the Competence Center “Digital Banking”

The University of Liechtenstein is young, rooted in its home region, and active around the globe. It is an internationally renowned center of research and higher education and serves as a think tank in the border region of Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. Members of the Institute of Information Systems have published in prestigious IS journals, including Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ), Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS), Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), and Journal of Information Technology (JIT).

You are expected to develop and drive the university’s regional academic service offering related to the digitalization of business and society. Specifically, you will head the Competence Center for “Digital Banking,” intended to become a leading research entity in the field. The competence center is a network of scientists, leading banks, and further representatives from economy, politics, and society in Liechtenstein. Key topics include analytical CRM, blockchain services / smart contracts, robo banking, API banking, and fraud prevention. The competence center will be provided with an IT lab to conduct experimental work to combine rigorous scientific inquiry with practical work in the field.

Your tasks include:
-       Development and implementation of the center’s research agenda
-       Development and supervision of a team of researchers
-       Managing relations with representatives from economy and politics
-       Publication in leading academic and practitioner outlets
-       Development, coordination, and conduct of teaching
-       Acquisition of third-party funding
-       Consultancy in the field of digitalization
-       Support of, and participation in, developing spin-offs and start-ups

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in financial services and information technology. Your qualifications include:
-       Postgraduate studies and doctorate in financial services and information technology, or related fields
-       Expertise in academic and practice work in the context of digitalization in banking
-       Methodological skills and good academic track record
-       Experience in developing and managing research teams
-       Experience in collaboration with C-level executives
-       “Entrepreneurial and Digital mind set”
-       German language is preferred; candidates who do not speak German are expected to learn German

Salary is highly competitive and will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
