*Information Resource Management (IRM) Qualifications*

The School of Computing at the University of South Africa is a
comprehensive Computing school in South Africa, comprising Computer Science
(CS), Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems (IS) divisions.
The School focuses on developing executives and practitioners in the
Computing field to cater for the ICT skill shortages in Africa and
worldwide.

The School of Computing wishes to call for applications from suitable
candidates for the Advanced Diploma in Information Resource Management,
which commences in 2016, the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Resource
Management starting in 2017 and Masters in Information Resource Management
starting in 2018.

The Advanced Diploma in Information Resource Management (an NQF level 7
qualification) is designed as an articulation pathway for our diploma in
Information Technology and, specifically, to provide an alternative to the
Bachelor of Technology qualification, which has been phased out. The
programme provides a fast-track opportunity into the Postgraduate Diploma
in Information Resource Management (an NQF level 8 qualification).

The qualifications, being the first offered in South Africa, aim to improve
the level of training for new entrants, as well as practicing, service
managers and supervisory staff as follows:

·       The Advanced Diploma in Information Resource Management focuses on
ICT Service Management modules required in IT industry such as *ICT Service
Processes, Incident and Problem Management, Database Systems, Networks, IT
Ethics, Development Software and ICT Project Management*.

·       The Postgraduate Diploma in Information Resource Management focuses
on Strategic and Management-oriented (understanding of IT-driven
organisation) modules such as *Change Management, Service Design
Management, Knowledge Management, Information and Computer Security,
Service Level and Service Validation Management.*

Both entry-level and experienced staff with relevant practical experience
will benefit from completing these qualifications. At the conclusion of
this programme, students should have the required workplace experience and
theoretical understanding of a broad range of topics in the ICT field.

*Prerequisite for the Advanced Diploma in IRM: National Diploma or Diploma
in IT or ICT-related qualification on NQF level 6 with a coursework average
of 60%. *

*Prerequisite for the Postgraduate Diploma in IRM: Advanced Diploma in
IRM/Computer Science/Information Systems/ICT or a degree in Computing or
related field (NQF level 7). *

The programme runs approximately for one year (full-time), but can be
spread over two years (part-time).
