The Culverhouse College of Commerce at The University of Alabama invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor
level in Management Information Systems (MIS) starting August 16, 2017 in
the Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science.
Candidates must have completed a doctorate in MIS or a closely related
field by the start of the appointment. Current Assistant Professors are
encouraged to apply.

Generally, an ideal candidate should have a demonstrated capability to
produce highimpact research and to excel in undergraduate and graduate
teaching. Research preferences are open, but candidates whose research
complements existing faculty research activity will be viewed as
beneficial. Moreover, data/healthcare analytics and information security
initiatives have increased within the College and across the University in
recent years, and applicants whose interests align with these initiatives
will be assessed favorably. MIS faculty at The University of Alabama have
significant interests in project management, business/data analytics,
software engineering, and information security, among others and have seen
their research published in outlets such as MIS Quarterly, Journal of
Management Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering,
Decision Sciences, European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of
Empirical Software Engineering, and Information Systems Journal. Candidates
with teaching interests in project management, process design, software
development and systems delivery, data communications, information
security, or data management are encouraged to apply. Applicants having
relevant professional experience are preferred.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and achievements.
Prior to hiring, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment
background investigation. Applicants must apply online at
https://facultyjobs.ua.edu/postings/38995 and include a one-page cover
letter, curriculum vitae, one or two representative examples of research
papers, teaching evaluations (if available), and a list of at least three
references with contact information.

The review of applications will begin immediately, though applications will
be accepted until October 1, 2016. Representatives of the search committee
will be available to meet at AMCIS 2016, with priority given to individuals
whose applications are received by August 4th, 2016. All inquiries should
be directed to the search committee chair, Dr. Clay Posey, at
cposey at cba.ua.edu.
