The Management Information Systems (MIS) Division of the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver Campus) invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor position.  Applicants should have completed or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. in information systems or related field and have a demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching. We welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have a strong interest in interacting with IT and business management.

Duties include developing and maintaining an active research program aimed at making a significant contribution to the academic profession, to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as contributing to other teaching and administrative initiatives of the Management Information Systems Division and the Sauder School of Business. Teaching and service requirements are similar to other research-intensive universities.

The Sauder School strives to be a leader in the areas of Finance, Big Data/Analytics, and Behavioral Science. To support these strategic areas, successful candidates must be able to work across fields on interdisciplinary research. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong technical foundation whose research methodology includes database management, the analysis of large data sets, distributed computing, computational techniques, econometrics, and/or behavioral economics. Candidates will be expected to teach courses such as database, cloud/application development, or other areas that support our business technology management and analytics curricula at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

As a School, Sauder currently ranks 20th in the world for research productivity according to the Financial Times. The MIS Division at Sauder has established a world-wide reputation as a leading research group. For example, according to the University of Texas, Dallas (UTD) ratings, since 1990 the UBC MIS Division ranks 2nd in the world and for the for the ten-year period 2006-2015, the UBC MIS Division ranks 3rd in the world based in terms of publications in the two top MIS journals -MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research that are included in the UTD list (as well as the only two journals in the Financial Times 45 list).
