*THE PAPUA NEW GUINEA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY*

The Papua New Guinea University of Technology is located in the industrial
city of Lae, the second largest city in Papua New Guinea with a population
of over 100,000.  The city is accessible by air from any part of the
world.  The University is the only technological university in Papua New
Guinea.  It has a main campus and three affiliated colleges.  The main
campus has 14 academic departments including one in Open and Distance
Learning (ODL).  It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in
engineering, natural and applied sciences, built environment, language and
business.  The university has also an Information Technology Services

*DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS STUDIES*



The Department of Business Studies offers undergraduate degree programs in
in accounting, management, information technology, and business economics.
It also offers postgraduate programs like an Executive Masters in Business
Administration (EMBA) program and, is in the process of offering PhD
studies as part of its comprehensive Graduate Business Programs.  There are
over 600 students and 30 full-time faculty members of different
nationalities in the Department of Business Studies.  Computer facilities
are available within the department and the university.



Applicants must be qualified and experienced to teach at both undergraduate
and postgraduate levels and carry out research in one or more areas in
Accounting, Management, Information Technology and Business Economics.  The
appointees will be responsible to the Head of the Department for academic
and research leadership, and assist in the operation and administration of
department where necessary.  They will perform instructional duties,
including supervision of postgraduate students and pursuing research and
appropriate consulting activities in order to maintain high professional
standards within the discipline.  They will also be required to make
contributions to the department’s periodic curriculum review and
development and future accreditation process.



*Professor (3 POSITIONS)*



Applicants must have a Doctorate degree from a recognized university in any
of the following disciplines: Accounting, Information Technology, and
Management and appropriate professional qualifications.  He/she must have a
minimum of fifteen (15) years full-time university teaching experience, an
international reputation in his/her research activity, with fifteen (15) or
more publications in reputed journals obtained during the applicant’s
career and/or other similar publications.



The appointee will need to show strong demonstrated evidence of research
and a commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate
levels.  The appointee must be able to perform effectively as an academic
leader and must have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Accounting, Information Technology, Management and Economics.



The appointee will be responsible for academic development in the
respective disciplines as well as conducting teaching, research,
publication and administrative engagement within the department and the
university.  The appointee will be directly responsible and involved with
the postgraduate programs offered by the department.

*Associate Professor (4 positions)*

Applicants must have a Doctorate degree from a recognised university in any
of the following disciplines: Accounting, Information Technology,
Management and Economics and appropriate professional qualifications, a
minimum of ten (10) years full time university teaching experience and ten
(10) or more publications in recognised international journals during
applicant’s career.

Applicants must have the ability and experience to take a major role in the
development and leadership of teaching in the department and to participate
in the administration of the department, normally taking full
responsibility for delegated administrative functions.  He or she should
have the demonstrated experience of successfully supervising or teaching
postgraduate students.

The appointee is expected to contribute to the academic leadership,
research and professional activities in the department, take a major role
in academic administration and provide leadership in appropriate areas of
university development.

*Senior Lecturer (4 Positions)*

*Senior Lecturer*  - Applicants must have a Doctorate degree from a
recognised university in any of the following disciplines:  Accounting,
Information Technology, Management and Economics and appropriate
professional qualifications where necessary, a minimum of five (5) years
full-time university teaching experience and five (5) or more publications
in learned professional journals during the applicants career.

The appointee must contribute to the full range of teaching (undergraduate
and postgraduate), research and professional activities in the department.
He or she is expected to contribute to the academic leadership or the
department, including supervision of postgraduate work and consultancy,
etc, taking a significant role in departmental administration including
acting as Head of Department and committee work.

*Lecturer (4 positions)*

*Lecturer *– Applicants should have a doctoral qualification in the area of
Accounting, Information Technology, Management and Economics from a
recognised university, at least two (2) years full time university teaching
experience and a mature grasp of the subject and a capacity to contribute
to its further development in the department.

The appointee is expected to undertake and consolidate the full range of
functions and contribute to teaching development in the subject areas.
He/she will be involved in a full range of research or professional
activities including supervision of post graduate work or further work
towards higher qualification and participating in consultancy and
administrative service activities.

Initial contract period is normally for three years.  Other benefits
include a gratuity of 30% of salary in the first year, 35% in the second
year and 40% in the third year (paid on fortnightly basis), support for
approved research, appointment and repatriation fares for yourself and
dependants, book & equipment allowance of K750.00 per annum,
settling-in/out allowance of K1,700.00 for single & K3,600.00 for
accompanied plus K200.00 each for two authorized dependent child (under 19
yrs) on appointment and repatriation, six weeks paid leave per year,
recreation leave fares for yourself, spouse & two authorised dependants
after 18 months of service, education fares and assistance towards school
fees for authorised dependants are available. Staff members are also
permitted to earn from consultancy up to 50% of earnings annually. Free
