The Information Management group within the division of Management and Entrepreneurship (http://www.colorado.edu/leeds/management-entrepreneurship) situated at the Leeds School of Business, the University of Colorado at Boulder seeks an assistant professor or experienced assistant professor whose research demonstrates a design science approach to the application or development of big and unstructured data, cognitive computing, or visualization and discovery. The candidate should have a strong understanding of business analytics/data science, statistics, and methods.

We seek candidates who: are adept at technology, but are more than technologists; who understand the industrial reality of technology, but whose practice expands beyond it; who view technology as a tool in their research and teaching, but seek out unorthodox and unique approaches. In short, candidates who think creatively, critically and conceptually about technological practices are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate is expected to teach courses such as: Business Data Management, Business Analytics, as well as self-developed classes in her or his area of expertise. The candidate will engage students and faculty from diverse disciplines and actively participate in curriculum development and other programmatic initiatives that encourage curiosity and creativity within research and learning. The University of Colorado exists within one of the most vibrant technology startup towns in the U.S., including many big and unstructured data companies. Boulder and towns within 10 minute drives (Lafayette, Louisville, and Longmont) are all common entries on rankings of best U.S. towns to live in.

The position provides an opportunity to engage with a breadth of technology initiatives and departments, including Computer Science<http://www.colorado.edu/cs/>, Information Science<http://www.colorado.edu/cmci/academics/information-science>, ATLAS<http://atlas.colorado.edu/>, and Silicon Flatirons<http://siliconflatirons.org/index.php>. Position beginning August 2017. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on the University of Colorado pay scale.

Qualifications: A PhD degree in information systems, information science, computer science, or other related disciplines is required.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of research excellence. Industry and/or government experience is a plus.
