Subject: Get Published! Workshop for non-tenure track faculty: July 17-21, 2017

Does your College/School have Instructional Practitioner (IP) faculty who want to make a scholarly contribution, but are not sure what to do, or even how to start? Are some departments or divisions in your College currently not meeting the new AACSB faculty qualification guidelines? If so, then send your promising IP faculty members to this affordable, four-and-a-half day workshop to be held on July 17-21, 2017 at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.

The 2013 AASCB Standards open the door to non-doctoral faculty maintaining their qualifications through their scholarship. For many business schools, having non-doctoral faculty become active scholars may be a cost-effective way to meet the 60% scholarly academic, practice academic, and scholarly practitioner standard. Our workshop provides non-tenure track faculty with guidelines and pointers to get their scholarly work published in refereed journals so that your Instructional Practitioner faculty will have the tools to become Scholarly Practitioner faculty. Your non-tenure track faculty will learn how to write and publish teaching cases, articles on pedagogy, and practitioner-oriented articles. The workshop will cover the advantages and challenges of publishing, the publishing cycle of journal papers with special emphasis on methodology, preparing manuscripts, working with co-authors, and navigating manuscripts through the revision (editorial) process. Workshop participants will receive individualized feedback from experts that will enable them to develop their ideas into publishable articles.

The workshop organizer and lead instructor is Carol Saunders, AIS Vice President for Publications and past Editor-in-Chief of MIS Quarterly. The pedagogical publishing component will be taught by Craig van Slyke, Dean of the Franke College of Business Administration at Northern Arizona University and author of numerous publications in pedagogical (and other) journals. The teaching case component will be taught by Janis Gogan, who is a prolific writer and publisher of teaching cases. Dr. Gogan is Past President of NACRA (North American Case Research Association). She co-chaired the ICIS 2016 Practice-Based Research Track and is AMCIS 2017 Conference Co-Chair.
