The Data Science Institute (http://www.fox.temple.edu/data-science/) in the Fox School of Business at Temple University invites applications for post-doctoral associates and visiting faculty positions in Data Science. We are seeking people with a record of scholarship under the rubric of "Data Science" (e.g., analysis of large datasets, data mining, machine learning, databases, pattern classification, network analysis) who have the potential to work in interdisciplinary teams to obtain competitive grants and publish in premier journals. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, and they should be able work with both academics and industry partners to engage in various data science projects.

Applicants may come from different backgrounds, such as computer science, statistics, econometrics, information systems and information sciences, or a related field, but preference will be given to those with experience working with social scientists. They should be familiar with common computer science and statistical techniques, such as SQL, R, Python, or SAS, and they should be familiar with theories and techniques on data mining, pattern analysis, machine learning, Bayesian decision theory, parameter estimation, decision trees, game theory, structural analysis, or data sciences. The post-doctoral fellows are expected to collaborate with various faculty at the Data Science Institute, but they can also pursue their own independent research agenda.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank and qualifications. The positions are typically for one year with the possibility to continue for more years. Shorter appointments are possible, especially for visiting faculty positions. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.

Applications should include a cover letter and (a) full curriculum vitae, (b) a brief statement of research interests, (c) evidence of excellence in research and teaching, and (d) the names and contact info of three references. Please send all materials to: Dr. Paul A. Pavlou at pavlou at temple.edu<mailto:pavlou at temple.edu>. We only review electronic submissions; please do not send paper applications.
