[AISWorld] Open Lecturer Position at UGA

The Department of Management Information Systems in the Terry College of Business at The University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time lecturer position, beginning August 2018. This is a non-tenure track teaching position and is subject to an annual contract.


By August 1, 2018, candidates should have earned their Ph.D. in Information Systems or a closely related discipline from an AACSB accredited university or international equivalent. We seek someone with teaching experience in technical subjects, such as JAVA programming, Web Development, and Data Analytics. The ability to teach our large-section Introduction to IS classes, as well as System Analysis and Design classes, will also be considered favorably. Candidates should have taught at least two classes in the past four years in any of the above subjects. Preference will be given to applicants with evidence of sustained high quality teaching in the desired areas. The normal teaching load is eight, 3-credit classes per academic year.

The Management Information Systems Department offers the following degrees: Ph.D. in MIS, Master of Business & Technology, and BBA in MIS. In addition, the Terry College of Business offers an on-campus MBA degree, along with off-campus Executive MBA degrees. A Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) is expected to be offered on campus starting Fall 2018. The MIS Department has a strong tradition in organizational and behavioral information systems research using a wide range of research methods, including state-of-the-art data analytics approaches.



The Management Information Systems Department is consistently ranked very highly nationally and internationally for both its programs and its scholarly productivity. For example, the most recent ranking of USA Today College (2016) ranks the undergraduate MIS program 8th in the nation. On the research front, the UT Dallas ranking of research productivity ranks the University of Georgia 11th in North America for overall research in MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research in the past five years. Faculty hold editorial positions at the premier information systems journals, and current and emeritus faculty include multiple AIS Fellows and an AIS Leo Award winner.
