[Universiteit van Tilburg]

As part of a continuing growth initiative, the Department of Management of Tilburg University invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions in Information Management and Information Science. The search is at the Assistant Professor level.

We are looking for candidates with exceptional research potential and strong teaching ability. We seek future colleagues whose work fits our orientation towards information management scholarship from an analytical, managerial and design perspective. We are able to hire applicants to join the Department in any month during 2019. ABD applicants will be expected to complete their Ph.D. prior to taking up employment.

Department and Conditions

The Department of Management is part of the School of Economics and Management (TiSEM) at Tilburg University. As a whole, the department consists of 38 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and 13 lecturers. Within the department, the Information and Supply Chain Management (ISCM) section conducts research in the field of information management and information science, as well as supply chain management and operations management, from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives.

The current members of the department, including its ISCM section, are listed at www.tilburguniversity.edu/mgt<http://www.tilburguniversity.edu/mgt>. Department members come from leading universities in North America, Asia and Europe. The working language of the department and school is English.

This is an opportunity to join a diverse and collegial group of research-oriented colleagues, including a terrific group of junior and recently hired scholars. Among the tenure-track ISCM scholars joining the department since 2017 are Amin Amiri (from U. of British Columbia), Spyros Angelopoulos (from Warwick U. via U. of Lugano/Swiss National Science Foundation), Francesco Lelli (from Ca' Foscari University of Venice<https://ch.linkedin.com/edu/universit%C3%A0-ca%27%E2%80%8B-foscari-venezia-13850?trk=ppro_sprof>), Sangho Chae (from Arizona State U.), Marianna Frangeskou (from U. of Bath) and Eirini Spiliotopoulou (from MIT-Zaragoza via VU Amsterdam). In other areas of management, tenure-track or tenured colleagues hired in the last two years include Lien Denoo (from Ghent U. via U. of Southern California), Roisin Donnelly (from Bentley U.), Anindya Ghosh (from Wharton via Indian School of Business), Kyeonggook (Francis) Park (from NYU-Stern) and Ningxin (Jennifer) Wang (from Hong Kong U. of Science and Technology), plus Erkko Autio (part-time, also at Imperial College London).

In addition to bachelor programs, the Department is host to seven Master's programs of which four are in the information management/science are (Information Management; Business and Data Science; Information Technology for Enterprise Management; and International Master in Management of IT). The Department also collaborates closely with the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS, a joint unit of Tilburg University and Technical University of Eindhoven) in the Data Science and Entrepreneurship Master's program, as well as with the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences on the Data Science: Business and Governance (DSBG) program. In addition, the Department houses two tracks of TiSEM's Research Master and Ph.D. programs, which prepare researchers for productive academic careers with excellent international placements.

The department has a very strong research orientation with a focus on high-quality publications. We aim to maximize the research time available to research-active faculty, and working conditions are otherwise comparable to major research universities in Europe and North America. The teaching load for pre-tenure faculty is the equivalent of two courses plus guidance of Bachelor and Master's thesis projects, in total per year (40% teaching time). We expect multiple publications in top journals over the tenure clock. Compensation is competitive with similar schools, and we provide guaranteed travel and starting research budgets. Faculty moving to the Netherlands may be eligible for a large tax abatement for a period of five years.
