We invite you to submit your research for presentation at the 11th annual
Credibility Assessment and Screening Technologies (CAST) symposium hosted
at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS). The 52nd
HICSS conference will take place January 8-11, 2019 at the Grand Wailea
hotel on the beautiful island of Maui. The CAST symposium dates will be
January 8-9, 2019.

There are two options for work presented at the symposium: work-in-progress
and completed research (full-papers). Do you have work that would benefit
from a developmental group of researchers in this space? If so, please
consider submitting your work by December 1st. See submission instructions
below.

Please find the call for the symposium below. Full-paper submissions to the
symposium will be considered to be fast-tracked to the Journal of MIS.
Information about HICSS, travel, and accommodation is available at the
HICSS website (http://www.hicss.org/).

We hope to see you all in Hawaii!

Kind regards,

*Credibility Assessment and Screening Technologies (CAST)*

*1.5-Day Symposium*

Analyzing deception indicators in mediated and face-to-face interactions is
a challenging and daunting task. Accurate detection of deception is
essential in a range of contexts, from port-of-entry screening and fraud
investigations to countering spear-phishing attacks. Security personnel
face the difficult task of separating the few individuals who may pose a
threat from the numerous individuals who pose no threat, all while
maintaining consistent and efficient processes.

This symposium offers a stimulating forum among academic researchers;
local, state and federal law enforcement; intelligence experts; and
information security practitioners who are interested in assessing
credibility and deception detection. New tools, technologies, processes and
procedures will be discussed and debated concerning their efficiency,
effectiveness, and usefulness for aiding in credibility assessment and
deception detection.

Specifically, research involving novel: (1) methods or insights into
credibility assessment, (2) applications of deception detection
technologies, and (3) means of establishing information quality and ground
truth are appropriate for this symposium. A key objective of the workshop
is to demonstrate proof of concept, beta and prototype versions of
technologies to introduce the audience to the state of the art in the field
of behavioral and biometric analysis.

Please consider the following non-exhaustive list of relevant topics for
this symposium:

· Online and in-person screening technologies

· Interviewing and elicitation strategies

· Deception detection training and awareness techniques

· Organization structures and incentives for ensuring information
security

· Alerting and notification systems

· Human-computer interaction in deception detection interactions

· Theories and techniques for alerting, addressing, and preventing
security breaches

· Case studies and applications of credibility assessment
technologies

· Risk assessment and mitigation in communication technologies

· Auditing and fraud detection

· Behavioral issues in credibility assessment

· Sensor future and data analysis techniques

· Automated interaction platforms for credibility assessment

· Novel/scalable sensors for collecting behavioral/physiological
responses

*Submission Guidelines*

Work in Progress Submissions – For these submissions only an abstract is
needed. However, authors are able to submit a more complete paper if the
work is at that stage.

Completed Research (Full Paper) Submissions - Authors are invited to submit
original, unpublished research papers that are not being considered in
other forums. Manuscripts will be limited to 10 (IEEE-style) pages. Please
follow the IEEE Computer Society Press Proceedings Author Guidelines to
prepare your papers (i.e., 8.5'' x 11'', two-column format).

*Submission Dates*

Work-In-Progress Submission Deadline: December 1st

Full Paper: Deadline passed; contact committee if interested

Once a paper has been accepted, at least one author is expected to attend
the 1.5-day symposium. The complete symposium proceedings will be available
for all attendees.
