Assistant Professor in Information Systems (IS)

The Operations Management and Information Systems (OMIS) Area of the Schulich School of Business, York University invites applications for a tenure-track professorial stream appointment in Information Systems, at the Assistant level, to commence July 1, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A Ph.D. or a Ph.D. defense scheduled for before July 1, 2020 in Information Systems or a related field is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach effectively in the BBA, MBA and PhD Programs and communicate with managerial audiences. They should also have the potential to teach in the Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence Program or the Master of Business Analytics Program and must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.  Outstanding research and scholarship, or potential thereof, is demonstrated by publications or late-round revisions in relevant top-tier IS journals (preferably journals in the Financial Times 50 group); pedagogical innovation in high priority areas, such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning, is preferred. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is demonstrated through positive teacher evaluations.  Experience in curriculum development is an asset.

We are specifically looking for applicants who have an ongoing program of research and specialize in one or more of the following areas: Blockchain, Digital Transformation, IS Security, Artificial Intelligence or Data Analytics. In their cover letter, applicants should summarize their research and teaching focus by addressing the following questions:

  1.  What is the central research question that they are addressing?
  2.  Where has this work been published to date?
  3.  How does this research fit with the current OMIS Area faculty research and teaching programs?
  4.  If the candidate is pre-thesis defence, what is the expected date of completion as designated by their doctoral thesis committee.
