ICIS 2019 Professional Development Workshop (PDW) on The Future of Digital Entrepreneurship Research: Existing and Emerging Opportunities - Tuesday, 17 December, 8:30-10 am

Digital entrepreneurship-the intersection of digital technologies and entrepreneurship-is gaining increasing importance in the global economy and scholarly community. In alignment with the newly formed AIS Special Interest Group on Digital Innovation, Transformation and Entrepreneurship (SIGDITE), this PDW sets out to establish a community platform with a coherent understanding among information systems researchers of how they can shape the future of digital entrepreneurship research within and beyond the discipline's boundaries.

The PDW will start with a panel discussion among digital entrepreneurship experts on the characteristics of three broad subthemes in digital entrepreneurship research-the role of digital technologies as enablers, outcomes, and contexts of venture creation. The panel members are:


*         Sirkka Jarvenpaa (McCombs School of Business)

*         Youngjin Yoo (Case Western Reserve University)

*         Lisen Selander (University of Gothenburg)

*         Philip Hukal (Copenhagen Business School)

The panel discussion will be followed by a roundtable-based research opportunity development workshop with all participants. Assisted by the organizers and panel members, workshop participants will form roundtable groups to identify research opportunities for future digital entrepreneurship research and to discuss research designs that could address them. The outcomes will be consolidated in a joint report that clarifies conceptual vocabulary and sets a research agenda with clear strategic directions.
